I can't help it but am quite miffed - just logged into my Next account to order some last minute christmas presents for my children and was faced with a banner to book a slot for the Next Sale - having logged in, I clicked on Book Slot and was advised that I'm not one of their selected customers and therefore am not invited to shop in the sale...I mean..I'm a next unlimited customer and have ordered hundreds of pounds of clothes over the year (also returned plenty when the photos didnt match the item sent which is another irritation) ...so what constitues a valued customer???
WIBU to potentially risk not receiving the clothes in time for Christmas just so I can take my customer to somewhere that I might be more valued?! Grrrr. first world problem and all that, but why advertise my lack of value right in my face!!!

Custom not customer obviously..can you edit messages?!

I'm not sure, I've only ever placed one order with next and I was 'invited' to book a slot for the last sale.

girlmom21 · 19/12/2021 16:38

Yeah you would be unreasonable. Why do you need to book a slot for a sale anyway?

ChangeChingyChange · 19/12/2021 16:38

I always get a text and email to book my VIP slot. I dont know how I qualify for it but might be worth sending them a message to ask them to explain before you get too arsey.

girlmom21 · 19/12/2021 16:40

PS you can get items delivered to store within a day or two for free if you don't want to waste money being an 'unlimited' customer.

If you return lots anyway you can try your order on in store and return anything you want to straight away.

Blossomtoes · 19/12/2021 16:41

Apparently I’m a VIP customer. I got the email this afternoon.

MarmeladeKing · 19/12/2021 16:47

I think due to it's popularity it's needed from an IT perspective. I've been a customer with them for decades.. it never used to be so selective.

OP posts:
MarmeladeKing · 19/12/2021 16:48

I've asked before what qualifies you and they've ignored my message.

Congratulations, I hope your family are sufficiently in awe of your status 😂

So you can't just buy stuff in the sale? You have to be "invited"?

Bugger that.

MarmeladeKing · 19/12/2021 16:51

Thanks... According to this I qualify, but apparently not.. not that I even wanted to buy clothes in the sale, I just needed some winter tops for my daughter who has just realized she's outgrown all the ones she has 🙄

It’s a preview thing. You get first dibs before it’s thrown open, I think.
Toplowlight · 19/12/2021 16:58

Next will truly not know or care about your business so the only person you will be negatively impacting in and way is you.

Elodeastar · 19/12/2021 17:01

Maybe you are too good a customer in terms of how much you spend/how often you spend, and they are aiming the VIP slots at those who don't currently spend much and/or very often, with the aim to getting more sales from them? Some places do work on that sort of psychology. Just a thought.

Elodeastar · 19/12/2021 17:02

PS I get my Next stuff mostly as gifts or second hand, so I am definitely not a VIP customer through their sales, though I wear a lot of their items. ;) :D

BlueRoseInBloom · 19/12/2021 17:04

Any company that set up their I.T. systems to tell me, "you're just not important enough to us" would never see another fucking penny of my cash as long as I have got a hole up my arse.

While it's true companies don't give a shit about customers beyond receiving their money and we all understand that, as a company who enjoys profitability, you don't fucking tell them.

Pissing idiots.

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 19/12/2021 17:08

There's an algorithm, if you tend to make big orders then return loads of it you won't get a pre-sale slot because they don't want sale stock returned.

Shambleseya · 19/12/2021 17:09

I used to love Next until I saw a post on FB last year about them stocking children's coats using real fur. They're listed under their associated "Luxury Brands". My children won't be wearing clothes from a company who thinks that is ok.

MarmeladeKing · 19/12/2021 17:24

Very true... But I'd know 😬

colourfulpuddles · 19/12/2021 17:27

They really won’t care if you decide to shop elsewhere. Losing your custom will be a drop in the ocean to them.

MarmeladeKing · 19/12/2021 17:29

That makes sense... Still irritated though ... If they'd sent me the pastel hoodies in the description and photo I wouldn't have ordered the same 3 twice before giving up and having to return 6 black hoodies I'd not asked for 🙄

Sleepyquest · 19/12/2021 17:29

I think you have to have bought something from the current season

Peakedtoosoon · 19/12/2021 17:32

Save your money. Next has been going downhill for years and the sale stuff really is rubbish.
