To wonder about this

We live semi-rurally. Every time I take the dog for a walk I notice the discarded lager cans - Carling, Holsten etc in the verge alongside the main road.

I can't help but be curious about who it is that does this - and in particular the circumstances.

It does worry me a little if these are being thrown out of the window by the person driving.

Anyoen else curious about this sort of thing?

Single shoes on the side of the road.....

SenseSphere · 19/12/2021 13:16

They will be thrown from cars or other vehicles but if they’re on the left then more likely to be from the passenger.

CremeEggThief · 19/12/2021 13:18

Could be other dog walkers who like a drink on their walk, surely? It's not my preference, but a lot of people where I live walk around with a can of lager on a walk, just the same as a can of Coke or bottle of water.

Kbyodjs · 19/12/2021 13:20

I wonder about the mentality of anyone who throws rubbish out the window but especially when it’s random things like that

Peakedtoosoon · 19/12/2021 13:21

Most litter is from cars, although some plastic water bottles will be runners and snack wrappers pedestrians

Yes, I've wondered about this when out on the pony - empty bottles of vodka and whisky too!

There must be a flip of a lot of people with drink issues surely?

Or a couple of people who do the same journey regularly?

The same with dogs' mess. It's usually not lots of owners but one or two owners who do the same walk daily.

daimbarsatemydogsbone · 19/12/2021 17:36

Fair point - perhaps it is fewer people than I think

The people we're not allowed to talk about do it round my way.

icedcoffees · 19/12/2021 17:58

It'll be being chucked out of the passenger window - or, I hate to say it, but some of them will be used to pee in and then lobbed out of the window full of urine.

I had to get one away from a dog I was walking and it spilled onto my hand Envy

canyon2000 · 19/12/2021 18:55

I've noticed this too. Different roads have different brands of beer. Very strange!

CaptainThe95thRifles · 19/12/2021 19:17

It's not lots of people here - it's often obscure brands of lager and you'll get a dozen off them along the same road and no others, so it's someone / one carload drinking through a whole load of them. Why on earth would you drive out to the arse end of nowhere to drink then lob your beer cans into the verge?!

Livedandlearned · 19/12/2021 19:59

Pisses me off when people lob bottles out of car windows, voles and shrews go in and can't get back out, especially if the bottle has landed at an angle

Tinygem · 19/12/2021 20:07

I live by a railway line and there are so many cans thrown over the fence by the track, it's unbelievable. Some of them have obviously been there for many years. As the vegetation dies back in the winter it looks atrocious. I often wonder about the mentality of the perpetrators. The problem is you never actually see anyone doing it...

Really??! have never seen this!

It doesn’t sound like it in this case OP, but sometimes it’s teens.
