Hey

Can anyone help I have been abusing solpadine and last 2 days have a dull ache in lower right side of my tummy. Really worried what it is.

Constipation? Can be a problem with opioids.

3luckystars · 17/12/2021 23:16

Can you jump up and down on one leg?

None of us can tell you what it is, you need to be examined by a doctor.

3luckystars · 17/12/2021 23:17

Which came first, the solpadiene or the pain?

Etinoxaurus · 17/12/2021 23:17

Solpadeine contains paracetamol. How much have you taken?

Bagelsandbrie · 17/12/2021 23:17

When you say abusing them how much are we talking?

I take 30/500 Cocodamol for chronic pain and I get terribly constipated on it, it causes the type of pain you describe. When is the last time you had a poo? Try and take some laxido / a gentle laxative.

BadgeronaMoped · 17/12/2021 23:19

When you say "abusing" solpadeine, do you mean taking more than 2 every 4 hours? I'm only asking because of the paracetamol in them. If you've been spacing them out then I'm sure you'll be fine, might be worth phoning 111 if you're not sure though Flowers

Suzanne999 · 17/12/2021 23:21

Solpadeine is paracetamol.( with caffeine added it states online) Have you taken more than the maximum dose of 8 in 24 hours? If you have you need to go to A&E for a blood test. This will show if your liver is affected.
The abdominal pain could be anything, related to paracetamol or something unrelated.
If you have overdosed on paracetamol you need that blood test immediately.

TimeForTeaAndG · 17/12/2021 23:23

Gas, constipation, appendicitis, something related to ovaries....

Phone NHS24 if you're in the UK. Or your GP.

Pepsi1212 · 17/12/2021 23:27

Thanks for replays. I can jump up and down on one leg. It's a dull ache. And is more intense since I jumped. The solpadeine came 1st. I need to stop taking them. I'm worried I've done damage to my insides. But thanks for answering me

Youngatheart00 · 17/12/2021 23:31

How often have you been taking them and how many per day?

Drink plenty of water

Pepsi1212 · 17/12/2021 23:32

I've been taking 4 to 6 daily for months now. Never go over 6 per day. Was addicted to tramadol years ago. This pain has me freaked out. Really angry with myself being back here with pain meds. Afraid I may have withdrawals when i stop from abusing these.

OP posts:
Bagelsandbrie · 17/12/2021 23:34

4-6 daily is within safe limits.

I think you need to ring 111 and have someone check you for appendicitis.

3luckystars · 17/12/2021 23:35

Don’t worry about the solpadiene for now, if the pain is worse when you jump up and down, it might be appendicitis. You need to get that checked out.
You can get off the solpadiene, there is help available and you can get rid of that habit. It is more common than you know and people give up every day and manage to stay off them.

Please get the pain checked out though, and don’t be blaming yourself. Good luck.

Youngatheart00 · 17/12/2021 23:35

Ok well the length of use isn’t great but you’re not taking over the maximum dose so that is a good thing.

Are you constipated do you think?

Don’t beat yourself up, just think tomorrow is a new day, face it with a clear head and throw away the painkillers

ChatterMonkey · 17/12/2021 23:36

Codeine can cause severe constipation which might be the reason for the pain.

Pepsi1212 · 17/12/2021 23:37

BadgeronaMoped I have moved my bowels today twice so dont think it's that. Going to lay off them. Hope for best and see does pain improve. Maybe its unrelated as someone rightly said I'd need to be examined to know what is going on.

Youngatheart00 · 17/12/2021 23:40

When I had appendicitis it felt like really bad period pain, low cramping and as much in my back as in my stomach.

It could be one of any number of things, on a scale of 1 to 10 how bad is the pain and is it constant or does it come and go? Trapped wind can be terribly painful, if you lie on your side with your knees tucked up and breathe calmly that can help

Pepsi1212 · 17/12/2021 23:41

I'll need to be honest with doc though which is embarrassing and I feel shame. Thanks everyone getting back to me. I will get it checked tomorrow and try and stop googling my symptons now lol never good

Shamwari22 · 17/12/2021 23:43

I find if you take the soluble versions of paracetamol or cocodamol that constipation is much less likely.

Pepsi1212 · 17/12/2021 23:44

Youngatheart00 it's been here all last night. Went this morn and came back today around 4pm its low but just to right under bellybutton. Staying to right dull ache. I'll try what you said about knees up. Breathing

OP posts:
Bubblty · 17/12/2021 23:45

Don't be embarrassed. They have seen pretty much everything before.

Pepsi1212 · 17/12/2021 23:46

I take soluble. I'm frightened what I'm doing to insides. Thanks for advice. It's time to knock them on the head!! I'm glad I posted get my arse in action. Get checked and Stop!

OP posts:
3luckystars · 17/12/2021 23:47

Absolutely EVERYTHING. Tell the truth, it’s not as bad as you think at all. Any good doctor will help you and be nice to you. Good luck.

Youngatheart00 · 17/12/2021 23:48

Be grateful that this is the wake up call to stop taking them. They do no good!! They are addictive though so it’s no failing of yours. But you can stop and at OTC dose it’s unlikely you’ll get any major withdrawal symptoms. Just think of your insides getting better every day you stay away from them.

Hospedia · 17/12/2021 23:51

You need to be checked for appendicitis, pain in the lower right side should always be investigated. I know someone who passed off their lower right side pain as a pulled muscle, then constipation, then food poisoning when the vomiting started, the time they got medical attention it had ruptured and they died of peritonitis.
