Its a lump on the back of my heel. Googling suggested Haglund's Deformity, and the GP confirmed he thought that was likely. Orthopaedic surgeon said no, possibly a cyst, but he thought there was vascular involvement, so sent me for ultrasound.
Radiologist said there was definitely flow in it, but he didn't know what it was and would have to consult colleagues.
Now they are suggesting an MRI, but I suspect Christmas and Omicron will delay it for a while.
I'm starting to worry, and can't find anything straightforward to put it down to. Has anyone got any experience of something like this?

Rheumatoid nodules maybe?

heelhunk · 17/12/2021 21:30

Would they be painful? This only hurts if I catch it, or walk a long way.

It looks very like the ganglion cyst that I have on my wrist.

Anordinarymum · 17/12/2021 21:34

Looks like a ganglion to me too. I have them

@LadyCleathStuart

I was thinking the same.

When the Orthopaedic Surgeon suggested a cyst I assumed it was something like a ganglion, but wouldn't they recognise that? I asked if it could be drained and that was when he mentioned the blood flow.

To update:-
It was removed and sent for analysis. It seems I had an angiofibroma. Googling tells me this is a benign tumour made up of blood vessels and connective tissue.

That's a good result.
Thank you for updating... must have been very worrying for you.
