To think FM fragrances are a scam

prayingforrainbows · 17/12/2021 08:08

Well maybe scam is a bit harsh but I just received my first pot of fragrances from FM purchased on Black Friday.

They all smell like cheap perfume... AIBU or has anyone has better experiences?

OP posts:

Waiting for the MLM hun bots to appear and tell us we're all wrong, and it's not a scam ...

myusernamewastakenbyme · 17/12/2021 09:44

@CurzonDax....im waiting for the huns to tell us its all made in the same factory as high end perfumes lol.

Fatgalslim · 17/12/2021 09:47

@MoniJitchell

Lost Cherry is the name of the real Tom Ford fragrance. The FM one will actually be called something like "#8868 comparable to Lost Cherry by Tom Ford".
Yes we know, it's the name 'lost cherry' aka losing your virginity
Newmumatlast · 17/12/2021 09:49

@HighlandCowbag

Meh, one of my mates sells them. It's OK if you have never used the original version. I tried a couple and thought they were fine for the school run, daytime sort of thing. Dd (17) goes to school drenched in the Lost Cherry, not my cup of tea but she's happy with it.

Did try one of my favourite perfumes and although it was similar it definitely wasn't the same. MLMs are dire but mate is doing it for a bit of pin money and is in profit doing it, just selling to school mums.

But it keeps dd off my nice stuff so it's worth it to me.

I've tried some samples and would say the same..smell similar enough for school run etc but would rather invest in the real scent for decent use

Do they really have a perfume called Lost Cherry? As in, American teen movie-speak, when did you lose your cherry? That's weird and creepy, even by MLM standards Shock Grin[/quote]
It’s a copy of the Tom Ford perfume called “Lost Cherry”.

I was given an FM perfume as a gift, it’s very similar to the original that it’s trying to copy but not quite the same, and has no lasting power.

But for £18 or whatever it cost it’s ok for daily wear if you can’t afford the original.

Iputthetrampintrampoline · 17/12/2021 09:51

cheap and nasty tat! Most smell like lav cleaner,

DrierThanANunsNasty · 17/12/2021 09:51

MLMs are awful predatory schemes designed to prey on stay at home mums generally. They’ve gotten even worse over the pandemic.

It’s only a tiny percentage of people that make a profit (at the very top) and anyone else who does ‘make a profit’ is generally on far less than minimum wage when all their expenses have been accounted for.

As for FM perfumes, they’re one of the worst because of the sheer amount of money they convince people to spend (how will your customers know what things smell like if you don’t have one of each?!)

Add that to the fact they’re just shite perfumes and you’ve got the recipe for a big ol’ money-making scam for the top of the pyramid. MLMs make my blood boil.

hazandduck · 17/12/2021 11:37

OP you’re not silly, lots of intelligent people get suckered in, or worse guilted in to buying these things, that’s how these horrible schemes work…they get someone quite desperate for extra cash that is easy to make from home, usually because they are looking after children…someone comes along selling them this dream, all they have to do is persuade some friends to try some perfumes…have a party or two…you were just trying to support a friend, doesn’t make you silly.

HaaaaaveyoumetTed · 17/12/2021 13:04

They are awful. I'd rather not wear perfume than buy them (which is what I do) and use the proper stuff more sparingly. They smell like cheap knock offs at best, at worst the alcohol in them makes it smell like you've had a heavy night - I thought my cleaner was an alcoholic at first because he smelled do bad, but nope, his wife used to sell FM stuff Shock

SpookyScarySkeletons · 17/12/2021 13:05

It's shit. I sold them for about 6 months many moons ago. Initially in the first spray they smell like your usual favourite perfume. For about 8 minutes. And then nothing.

SlashBeef · 17/12/2021 13:06

I've seen FM "ambassadors" say their stuff us made in the same factories as the high end designer perfumes Confused

myusernamewastakenbyme · 17/12/2021 13:15

But are they ambassadors or consultants Grin

NMC2022 · 17/12/2021 13:17

Would rather buy from perfume parlour. Not MLM, much cheaper, can get a tiny bottle to try and decent quality

NotAnotherCrapHamper · 17/12/2021 13:36

Are they the ones that when tested had mosquito pond water used as a base?

itwasntaparty · 17/12/2021 13:39

Of course they'll be shite! Wouldn't touch with a very very long barge pole.

Biker47 · 17/12/2021 13:40

Someone sells it on one of my local neighbourhood facebook groups, enough to warrant them giving up at £40k annual salary job and get given a "free" BMW for selling their wares at the local run down market 2 days a week, I'm somewhat doubting the validity of those claims.

The 'free' BMW is only free as long as they make a certain amount of commission each month (I think normally about £800).

The HP is taken out in their name but as long as they hit their targets they are paid the monthly HP amount on top of their commission. Obviously the downside of this is if they don't reach their targets they are liable for the payment which is normally ££ as they have to have the top of the range model I think.

whitewashing · 17/12/2021 14:10

There’s a YouTuber who sells them, she’s always saying they’re made in the same factories as high end perfumes, mind you, she also sells these loaded sponges 🤢 and wax melts she makes in her kitchen using her normal, everyday kitchen utensils!!

Grapewrath · 17/12/2021 14:12

I use perfume parlour- dupes of expensive fragrance, no mlm and much nicer than FM

ChristmasFluff · 17/12/2021 14:19

Eden perfumes are great - vegan, cruelty-free dupes, and no MLM.

I was just coming back to this thread to recommend the same, they are fab if you are looking for cheaper perfumes OP

Neither- they’re customers Grin
chiefcha · 17/12/2021 14:31

Perfume parlour is fab.

Ohdofuckoffcovid · 17/12/2021 14:32

@Soubriquet

If it’s an MLM product, you can guarantee it’s a cheap product wrapped up as an expensive one.
I an actively boycotting mlms now but have bought from many in the past. Most of the products are excellent quality.
SparkleWhale · 17/12/2021 14:34

The Essence Vault also do the cheap dupes but aren't an MLM.
