Since my place of employment reopened in Mat after lock down we have been closed on Mondays and Tuesdays (but open the other 5). Because of this I've taken on the toll of looking after my step kids as my husband is contracted those days in his job.
My place of employment has decided that over Christmas break they are going to open on Monday and Tuesday. I remember this being talked about in casual conversation but never being formally mentioned. Our rota comes out every Thursday evening for the following week. Now this afternoon I found out that it was official that we were opening on M&T so I rang up my manager to say that I wouldn't be able to work M&T because of child care and he said that he's already put me down for these and he can't change them because we are so short staffed. Annoyed I've spoken to my other boss and she said because I had formally written to say I can't work these days I have to do them. I said I was never told to let them no in writing but that I've told my manager many times I do child care in these days and that it's common knowledge. I said that had I had formal notice that we were open M&T over Christmas break I would have reminded them that I can't work these days.
Whose in the wrong here? Me or them?! I just want to know if I have a leg to stand on?!
