When people do this on social media

When celebrities (or indeed anyone it seems in my friendship circle) shares a phot on social media and then there are so many comments from people like “I’m sensing a pregnancy announcement soon”, “is X pregnant” etc etc

And when the announcement comes: “I knew it!” Etc etc

It’s just so intrusive and unnecessary! I would never dream of it.

If they are pregnant they will announce/tell you when they are ready for you to know!

Shut up, keep your guessing to yourself! You have NO IDEA how they feel about it and what they are going through!

And don’t even get me started on

“Sheila has checked into the hospital”

“Oh my god what’s happened are you ok?”

“I’ll PM you hun”

Many of these celebrities rely on people making comments and generally interacting with their posts to make money.

I bet they are laughing all the way to the bank and do not give a shit what people are guessing.

If they were that offended they would stop posting

I absolutely can't stand this one! Attention seeking at it's finest. Even worse when it is labelled 'feeling worried' or 'feeling sore' Hmm
FreedaMercury · 15/12/2021 16:31

I don’t understand who you think you are to have right to ask that? Whoever they are the are still a person and pregnancy can be a really vulnerable and difficult time. No one needs to be asked that.

I assume if somebody is voluntarily posting a photo of themselves where they look a bit pregnant or have included potential clues that they might be, they aren’t going to be that fussed about people engaging that way indeed, are inviting it. Social media isn’t obligatory. People having vulnerable and difficult pregnancies they don’t want to talk about aren’t likely to be posting cryptic photos and statuses on social media, are they?

FreedaMercury · 15/12/2021 16:56

But the thing is it’s almost always just someone smiling looking well or just a couple together, literally nothing cryptic.

how does that even suggest they are pregnant?

It’s rude and does my head in tbh

I do t think you should ever ask

I can’t think of a single time I’ve seen a photo like that be subject to guesses about pregnancy. Usually it’s the ones with e.g. woman standing in front of partner with his hands resting strategically on her belly or some such.

Regardless, I’m not going to lose much sleep over whether it’s rude that celebrities and influencers find photos they choose to put up as part of their “brand” of whatever, being interrogated and analysed.

EishetChayil · 15/12/2021 17:04

Nothing warms my cold little heart quite as much as seeing zero comments or likes on my attention-seeking acquaintance's vaguebooking posts.

FreedaMercury · 15/12/2021 17:07

Bit just because you follow someone on SM doesn’t entitle you to ask about their private life. It’s not just celebrities I see with all
Sorts of people

And saying it’s ok if it’s a celebrity because they use social media to make money sets a precedent that people can share in an “all or nothing” way which shouldn’t be the way

I don’t know who I’m following or not following on social media. But I haven’t seen this even once. Confused

Yet other people (the OP) have seen it so often, they’re moved to complain about it……………….?
