Please settle this for me for DS and myself

Guidance states: isolate if you MAY have come into contact with the omicron variation

and

You don’t need to self isolate if usual alpha and delta under xyz circumstances, vaccinated, under 18 etc etc

How in hell are you supposed to know if someone MAY have the omicron variant from the time an LFT positive to the time a positive PCR comes back?

Sometimes people know who they’ve got it from and whether they’ve got omicron or not.

I thought the guidance has changed now so if you’re a double vaxxed contact, regardless of strain, you do an lft every day for about a week?

Tillsforthrills · 15/12/2021 14:43

YABU - you can’t/shouldn’t isolate between the positive LFT and the PCR which will tell you if omicron. If omicron then isolate from the time of PCR (people will be infected by then)

YANBU - Self isolate until you’re sure it’s not omicron to safeguard others and prevent the spread.

What would you do?

Are you in England?

SilverHairedCat · 15/12/2021 14:45

You'll be told if you've got Omicron (PCR) or are a contact of someone who has it (Test and Trace).

SushiGo · 15/12/2021 14:50

You will be told of its suspected omicron by track and trace.

But, your op isn't clear - the person who has tested positive still has to isolate regardless of whether its omicron or not from the moment they get their first positive (LFT or PCR) or from when symptoms started for 10 days.

Sorry I mean for contacts of omicron/non omicron isolation

@Tillsforthrills

Sorry I mean for contacts of omicron/non omicron isolation
I don’t understand

You need to say where in the uk you are. The rules are all different.

We’re in Wales for the month of December. I think I’m behind on the changing rules!
