This is something I've really noticed since returning to the UK from abroad a few months ago - how many items just seem to be really low in quality compared to how they used to be a couple of years ago. I'm talking about mid-range rather than luxury items. This includes things like towels and blankets/throws (thin and, in the case of blankets, look terrible after being washed), clothing (underwear from M&S doesn't seem to be as well made as it used to, with less nice fabric, bad seams, etc., and the fleecy socks just start disintegrating; the dressing gowns are thinner and don't wrap around as much as they used to), even random things like draught excluders (so many that are filled with soft polyester and not weighted down, or even ones that are - like some fancier ones in John Lewis - now only have weights in certain areas rather than along the whole thing). The colour ranges also seem more limited - endless grey, pale pink and white. Finding bedding without polyester is harder (I did find some that wasn't really expensive, but had to look through loads of "cotton blends" first).
I understand that things are often out of stock because of supply issues, but I didn't expect the actual products not to be of the same standard they were not very long ago. Has anyone else noticed this? It just feels like so many things are made to be disposable.
