I'd never heard of this app, until I read the article on the BBC. Just curious if anyone has used it and found it helpful?

The article also raises some pros/cons of such technology.

I did like this quote: "Whilst technology - such as safety apps on phones and smartwatches - can play a role in helping women feel safer on the streets, these interventions are temporary sticking plasters, which ignore the real cause of male violence against women.

Yes, that last section is important.

As is the discussion about how this sort of tech could be abused by stalkers and others who wish harm.

But yes, wouid I want to be able to 'see' where my young adult DD was on her way back? Hell yes, I want her safe (the wrist-borne device sounds interesting, especially if it looked like just another sports watch). Also the DS tbh - it's a very strong urge to want to keep all your DC safe.

Never used it but do use the Find my… app on iPhone. DH can see where I am from that app all the time and vice versa. Definitely makes me feel safer when out and about. My SiL uses find my friends which I think is another version of it on android I think. There’s already lots of apps out there but I think the key is to make sure you’re sharing with someone or people you absolutely trust.

Unfortunately these apps have always come with the downsides that an abusive partner or parent can always abuse them, although I don’t know how an unknown stalker could without having had access to your phone.
