He has no Covid symptoms off the current list, his symptoms are an intense ear ache for past 4 days and a bit of discharge coming from the ear. No sore throat, no temperature, no cough or no change to taste smell and no cold like symptoms.

I think no he doesn’t but don’t want to waste an hour on hold to be told he can not be seen. He has been doing 3 times a week LFT for school all negative and as I say has none of the listed covid symptoms.

I feel your pain Ella, I know covid is around but not all illnesses are covid and as my ds has no covid symptoms I would think no PCR needed.

My DS had a sore ear, v similar to you, and he was seen without a PCR, turns out it was an issue with eustachian tubes.

I saw my GP recently for an infection with a temperature but didn't need a covid test first providing there was no cough or change to taste/smell.

My DD just had an ear infection. Prior to it becoming obvious what it was she had a high temp so we took her for PCR as she also had a bit of a cough. Made it easier when we did have to take her to urgent care for her ear as we could say she's just had a negative PCR. however they still would have treated her the same and checked her ears and got her anti biotics without the test, I offered that info they didn't ask me. I do find those in health care are rather blasé now about covid as they've been around it regularly for nearly 2 years.

I took my DD to see the GP with an ear infection a couple of weeks ago. She actually did have covid (well, we were awaiting PCR results but she’d had positive LF) which I’d explained to the GP beforehand but they still saw her, not sure why. She did have an ear infection but did also have covid simultaneously.
