Itchy rash

Since last night I have a rash all over my face - across nose, cheeks, forehead, down neck. Shower helped but the itching is driving me mad. Tried antihistamine and no change. Just posting for traffic. No rash in other places but itchy on back and arms.

Have you just got a Christmas tree?

I had hives neck to ankle one year over Christmas, and we're pretty sure it was the Christmas tree.

I had something like that a few years ago - never got to the bottom of what caused it.
Fexofenadine is a particularly strong anti histamine I think it's available OTC, but probably worth seeing your GP - or seeking the advice of a pharmacist.
Nytol (the original antihistamine version, blue box) may help you sleep.
Is there a late night pharmacy open near you?

If there's not, something that may help relieve the itching until you can get to a pharmacy, sounds bonkers, but I once used it (successfully) to relieve really itchy painful sunburn - steep lettuce leaves in hot/boiling water, and put the cooled leaves on the rash.

@lanthanum - that's interesting, mine was just after Christmas, would have had a real tree, hasn't happened again, but hadn't made that association.

I haven't had the hives again since, but I do get headaches and other cold symptoms if I'm near a real tree.

Camomile bath recommended, by the way.

No real tree just itching on head, nose, face, arms.

Have you showered? If a shower relieves some of the rash then it's something your skin has come into contact with rather than something you've ingested, but a face rash is more likely something you've eaten or breathed in that you're allergic to, the antihistamine might not help if you're still being exposed.

Showered again earlier. I genuinely can't work out what it could be. My whole head is itching. Could it be a Covid symptom?

I had that from a particular ( annoyingly expensive) red wine. Shane as it was delicious. But yep bought me out in hives.

Sounds weird, but could you have been exposed to headlice? I caught them off my daughter and had a horrible reaction to them.
