Birthday experience v physical gift

A much loved relative will be 70 in January. She lives near Brighton and previously we've bought wine tasting, a boat ride as she is far more into experiences than things.

However, I am concerned with covid that things may start shutting down and that any vouchers etc may not be used for months.

Would you risk buying an experience (ie wine tasting) rather than a gift (ie wine)?

Things might shut down for a few weeks or a month, but doubt it will be as long as last time. Get the experience.

Even if things shut down over winter I would expect them to be open again by spring.

Things like Red Letter Day gifts last approx 2 years I believe, and were v good about extending during lockdown.
