I have arranged a weekend away in a self catered property for some of our staff from the 13th-16th January. There’s around 20 people in total going and I’ve got to pay the full amount this coming week - but now I’m wondering if the recent Covid strain means we will likely have to cancel.
The property have said we can move the dates if we go into another lockdown but will pay an admin fee. If we have to cancel then we would have to claim via insurance.
I’m debating whether we just cancel/postpone now instead of potentially spending another £10k and then very likely having to go into lockdown and claim on insurance.
This is my first event like this and was supposed to be a nice thing for our team working in a tough industry right now. They’re all excited but I know the new variant news is making some nervous.
YABU - don’t cancel/move it, it’ll probably go ahead
YANBU - postpone it for now so you don’t lose the money
Thanks in advance
