Royal Mail redirection - posting for traffic

Hi all. Just wondering if anyone else has had issues with Royal Mails redirection before?

I'm moving house on the 17th and tried to set up a redirection on Tuesday so it could start before I leave as it takes 5 days set up. Filled out the application form and it said the payment was successful but then said the page could not be found. The money was taken from my account so I didn't think anything of it but it has now been pending in my account for the last 3 days. I've just checked and noticed it's cleared and they haven't taken the money.

I'm going to try again and hope it works this time. I'm moving 2 hours away so won't be able to just pop by and pick anything up. I've tried calling them to ask what's gone wrong but I've been on hold for 50 minutes so far Sad

Anyone else had this issue before and what did you do?

Sounds like it didn't hand back to the website correctly to confirm the transaction, so it hasn't gone through. Just try again.

Have you had a confirmation email from them? They usually send a letter too to the old address to confirm so it can't be set up fraudulently. I think you will have to persist with trying to contact them. Did you set up an account with them for it, and if you log into that what does it say? You could try making an online request if they're not answering calls.

I had this a couple of weeks ago, they couldn’t find anything on their end so told me to try again. I was worried about being charged twice but the pending payment was never actually made it just disappeared

I recently did it and it let me enter the payment details, looked like it all went through then said security failed. No idea why. I left it a few days and it worked though.

The system doesn’t like it if you enter a surname that isn’t on your payment card - I keep my finances in my maiden name and had to call them to get that added on

Even when you've managed to get it set up properly, I'd probably be tempted to leave a large S.A.E. for the new residents to forward anything that gets missed, as although we paid to redirect when we moved, the new occupants still received quite a lot of things that didn't get picked up.

Good luck, my bank statement going to the old address (no redirect label) crappy other mail being delivered as requested. So much for paying for safe delivery of mail.
