How does it work if you would like to resign or you know you don’t want to return to a school after maternity leave?

Schools often don't know the law around maternity and rarely employ professional HR people. So you need to be very careful and know the law and your rights very well yourself - especially if they are trying to manage you out as sadly it sounds like they are. Do not mess around with the union. Find a specialist employment solicitor and pay for personalised.advice. it will be a few hundreds but could save you thousands! My school was incompetent rather than horrible, but I was so glad I did this.

I was with ATL at the time (now merged into NEU). They were useless! I'm currently with Edapt who at least seem to employ properly trained people on the helpline. If you have professional indemnity insurance through the union, it may be possible to access legal advice that way, especially given the additional capability issues.

@Flowery is a HR professional who gives lots of sound advice on here. Hopefully she will see this and come along to advise you.

Also repost this in Staffroom.

Yes they have been useless with me. The rep said that as long as it’s not a formal support plan I should be fine. I don’t know what advice that is.

Do you think they are trying to push me out?
The head keeps reassuring me that it’s a developmental tool used to better teachers skills and brush up on their skills but I’m in two minds about it because it’s very pressurising. I’m a good teacher so I don’t understand. My books are always marked thoroughly I’m Friendly with people my classes make great progress. I’m only in the first 5 years of my career so it is sad.

No-one here can say what's going on in the minds of your SLT but it doesn't sound great. Schools can be petty places.
