To want to go to party

Toomuch2019 · 09/12/2021 21:18

Friend has a significant birthday the week before Christmas and is having a party of 50 or so people celebrate. We will know birthday friend but no one else.

DH doesn't want to go party with 50 likely drunk strangers because of Omicron risk so close to Christmas. He worries we will catch it and we will have to cancel Christmas.

I feel we should go as I would be gutted if it was me and people kept pulling out at this stage.
AIBU to want to go?

Can you go without him?

UnsuitableHat · 09/12/2021 21:20

I’d want to go but wouldn’t put pressure on someone who didn’t want to.

JingleJingleAllTheWay · 09/12/2021 21:20

I personally wouldn't go but that's because I don't want Covid over Christmas- or ever.

She’ll likely have loads of people drop out and she’ll know that already. I doubt 50 will go.

I don’t blame him if cancelling your Christmas plans will be a nightmare or inconvenience a lot of other people.

YANBU. Go without him.
