Hi all. I've posted on here before asking for advice about my little son, who is 2y10m and speech/language delayed and possibly ASD. I'm absolutely bursting with pride because over the past few weeks my once non verbal boy has started saying/repeating things and now has ELEVEN words 🥰 all in context, too. If I had a pound for the amount of people who have said to me, "Wait until he starts talking, you will want him to shut up"! But I know that's not true for me. His voice is the sweetest sound to my ears ..

Before going through this journey with my baby, I was very ungrateful, a bit lazy and maybe sometimes unkind. It's made me a better mother, a better person.

I hope it's ok to share this, I don't have many people in real life to tell and I just can't wait to see how far he will go 😊

That's amazing! Bet he'll be chatting away in no time!

Ohdoleavemealone · 09/12/2021 21:10

Well done to you both!

DameCelia · 09/12/2021 21:13

That's wonderful news 😍
Enjoy every single word.
Being the parent of a child with problems is difficult but definitely makes you think about the struggles others go through in a kinder way.

This is a lovely post. Good for you both, enjoy it all.

That's amazing! You must be so proud. Eleven words is a huge step from 0, and it's happened so quickly! Even if he stays at 11 for some time, that's a great achievement for you both. You sound like a lovely mother, he's very lucky.

PooWillyNameChange · 09/12/2021 21:51

11 words in a few weeks is huge!! My 22 month old is 'on track' but I think it took him a hell of a lot longer than a few weeks to get to 11 words all in context! Which words are they? So exciting!

Randomness12 · 09/12/2021 21:53

Fantastic news!! So pleased for you both Smile make sure you get lots of videos of his little voice, it’s my favourite thing to look back on how it changes over time.

EveryAction · 09/12/2021 22:04

Thanks everyone ☺

So, my son's words are:
Go
Uh oh
Shoes
Here (when handing me something)
Wee (when going down slide)
Ready, steady, go!
Hi
Door
Car
Elloelloello (from the police officer in Peppa Pig!)
Tree

His sister was making him paper airplanes tonight, and he was saying "ET, SET, GO!" (Ready, steady, go! Grin) before flying them. It made me so happy. A memory I'll cherish forever!
