Where is the logic in this???

Live abroad. Haven’t ever given up masks where we are, stricter than U.K.
Recently brought in tougher measures again, one being not being allowed to sit inside a restaurant unless you have a vaccine passport or proper test (sorry I forget the name) not a simple, lateral flow one.
Allowed to sit outside though.

Last week I was shopping with toddler at IKEA, shopping with a mask on as usual, all fine. Literally in the next room to where I’m
shopping is the restaurant part of IKEA, but from the part I was in, fairly busy, people all around, to 10 m away, large spacing inbetween tables and barely anyone there, the rules are different…why?

I guess everyone else sees the logic then 🤣

I think it's about reducing risk rather than eliminating it.

Without getting into a debate about the efficacy of masks, if you have 50 people in the cafe and 50 in the shop and no one is masked, that's 100 people who might breathe over you. If the people in the shop are masked, that's only 50 who might breathe over you.

Presumably in the restaurant people are taking their masks off to eat ?

WeatherwaxLives · 08/12/2021 22:41

Am I understanding correctly that you're asking why space between people was vein enforced in the cafe but not the shop?

I'd guess because you and your fellow shoppers were wearing masks, but the people in the cafe can't eat with a mask on?

WeatherwaxLives · 08/12/2021 22:42

*being (not vein!)

Jinglebellsbatmansmellsss · 08/12/2021 22:49

Yes obviously can’t eat with a mask on, but huge spacing between tables, nobody there etc

People are probably just bored of the endless mask threads tbh

Jinglebellsbatmansmellsss · 08/12/2021 23:03

@TurnUpTurnip ? What mask threads?

OP posts:
WeatherwaxLives · 08/12/2021 23:05

The huge spacing between tables is because the people in that area aren't wearing masks. Without masks you have to be further apart to have the same level of risk as being closer together, but with a mask.

I feel like I'm not understanding the question you're asking Confused

Jinglebellsbatmansmellsss · 09/12/2021 00:00

@WeatherwaxLives Well yes, exactly!

Basically the fact we have to prove we’re vaccinated or have a negative test, to simply do that

Because there isn't one rule for IKEA's spacious restaurant and a different rule for other restaurants that are way busier and barely compliant with distance between tables. There's just a restaurant rule.

And they do want you to get vaccinated.
