Lying to get payment?

I took someone to small claims court and won £660, agreeing for him to pay £50 per month. After four months he stopped paying, so I contacted him but he accused me of harassment so I just left it.

Now he has got in touch and said that he's found he has a CCJ on his credit file and asked if he pays the money whether I can get it taken off - I know this isn't possible but would it be illegal for me to respond that I've looked into it and yes I can? Otherwise I know he will never pay.

You could say
Once you have paid me in full I will write to (whatever court) to notify them that you have now paid.

Then do that.
Send him a copy of the letter.
If he assumes that that will remove the ccj from the record well 🤷‍♀️ you didn't tell him it would do anything. Only that you'd write a letter.

I’ve just gone through this with an ex.

When you are paid in full you have to notify the court anyway.

To get it removed fully they have to pay for a certificate of deletion, they have to prove they’ve paid in full then pay £14 to the court, the court will contact you to see if they paid and when.

If it’s left it comes off after 6 years.

I would.
His own fault for failing to pay you. Serves him right.
