They've got 6 children how can they be good for the environment? The least they can do is a bit of recycling. It really annoys me. I didn't even think I had an issue with large families until I noticed my iritation with this programme.

I think there's something really odd about them. I can't put my finger on it but something just feels off. I'm also very confused about how and why they're the face of the show. Not just because of the size of their family, but they don't actually seem to care about the environment or going green. Confused

Thehop · 08/12/2021 08:47

They were a very strange choice for that show.

Mouseonmychair · 08/12/2021 09:02

They have done more damage to the environment with their 6 children that they could ever undo with their lifestyle changes.

MeltedButter · 08/12/2021 09:07

@Whinge yeah I can't work out what it is either. Maybe that they seem fake

YES! I said this to DH when I first saw it! I do wonder what car they need to drive to get the family around. If they don't drive then fair play to them.

Also, that bloody theme tune drives me mad.

Were they not YouTubers before they got the show? I don't think they were selected as the face of it, I think their YouTube channel was adapted into a show.

On the plus side, my 6yo is now really into recycling so despite being a really annoying format, it's resonating with one kid at least.

MaryAndGerryLivingInDerry · 08/12/2021 09:14

Grimwades. What a horrible name. I’d have changed that before saddling any children with it.

Outlyingtrout · 08/12/2021 09:17

Yeah they are massive hypocrites. However much recycling they do, they can’t offset the environmental and societal impact of choosing to have 6 kids.

MeltedButter · 08/12/2021 20:40

@Theflamingnerd ah that's interesting about the YouTube channel, I wondered how they were selected for the show.

That's great about your 6yo!

I've had this same conversation but it was with my 2 year old DD who also doesn't really care for them and just asked when Ricky was coming on Grin But you're right massive hypocrites.
NewbieAlert · 08/12/2021 21:27

YANBU I thought exactly the same when I saw it.

SmellyOldOwls · 08/12/2021 21:31

They can't sing that very catchy theme tune either and I spend all day with the fathers tuneless caterwauling playing on a loop inside my head.

Kanaloa · 08/12/2021 21:37

It’s the same with lots of influencer or celebrity endorsed things though. Similar to Demi Lovato who had a picture taken at a turkey sanctuary with a big comment on how beautiful and intelligent they are and how they shouldn’t be killed, then posted a happy thanksgiving turkey a few days later. And the thanksgiving turkey was basted and cooked.

Or the celebrities who lecture us about how we all need to help poverty/go green while having multiple mansions, flying everywhere on jets, driving massive cars. Hypocrisy at its finest.

girafferafferaffe · 08/12/2021 21:37

My dd loves them and they make me grit my teeth. Awful programme.

Chunkymonkey13 · 08/12/2021 21:51

Yes I saw this the other day too and made exactly the same comment.

How can they preach about being so hot on saving the planet but have so many children. I have no issues with large families but it seemed a hypocritical

Jibberjabberhutt · 08/12/2021 23:29

I always think this. It’s such a crock.

Ellabellaboo2020 · 08/12/2021 23:41

I said this to my partner as well!! But my DD who is 1.5yo LOVES the theme tune and dances like crazy when it comes on it drives me up the wall and gets stuck in my head for the whole day…guess what I’ll be singing to sleep…

“ This is where the Grimwades live,
mum dad sisters and brothers,
looking out for one another
yes we’re looking out for one another hmmmmmmm “ do you think a strong gin would help block it out?? 😂

Wow @Batshaver what a horrible thing to say especially since everything that’s been going on recently. Is it hypocritical to have that many kids and want to save the planet yes but FGS it’s not the bloody kids fault!! Can’t actually believe that comment tbh

Batshaver · 08/12/2021 23:57

Just verbalising the rest of the thread. Hun.

Ellabellaboo2020 · 08/12/2021 23:58

Cool love 👍🏻

Batshaver · 08/12/2021 23:58

To be clear I don't think that at all but this is the undercurrent for any thread on the subject ie anti human anti child and just plain nasty.

Kanaloa · 09/12/2021 00:18

@Batshaver

YANBU they should kill off a couple of their kids at least. Maybe four. The entire point of the climate change discussion is that the planet remains habitable for humans but that matters not for your own particular nihilistic argument. Kill those fucken kids.
That’s exactly what I thought, they should murder their children.

Or, in a more sensible vein, they shouldn’t preach what they don’t practice. Much like the example I used of wealthy celebrities who go on about poverty and environmental concerns while flaunting their own wealth and taking jets everywhere. It’s hypocritical and trying to push blame onto the general public when it belongs (or at least starts with) with the big 1%.

Whinge · 09/12/2021 06:35

Or, in a more sensible vein, they shouldn’t preach what they don’t practice.

Exactly. Someone on the thread said they have a youtube channel. I had a look yesterday and they don't actually seem to have implimented any of the changes from the show as part of their daily life. It seems a bit odd that they're the face of the programme, when its ethos is at odds with their daily life. Confused

Outlyingtrout · 09/12/2021 09:02

@batshaver what the fuck are you talking about 😂

MeltedButter · 09/12/2021 12:06

"That’s exactly what I thought, they should murder their children."
That just made me laugh until I cried.
