Gentle parenting videos

For some reason I am bombarded with gentle parenting videos on Facebook of the most patronising people demonstrating how they are the most wonderful parents on the planet because they film themselves intervening fights between their children and saying things like - “you can be angry but you cannot hit”, as if this is the most incredible advice for parents everywhere.

It just makes me so angry - obviously I understand the benefits of this sort of parenting but why do I need to watch a patronising video to tell me this? Also why are you filming yourself when you should be just dealing with whatever the issue is??? Why does this moment need to be caught on camera??

Also we then get the videos where people explain why being overly authoritative or a disciplinarian ruins your child’s life. Shouting at your child is so damaging it could mean they end up in prison for life.

Obviously I know shouting is not good, but occasionally when I’ve said put your shoes on for the 5000000 time I see red and it happens and I apologise afterwards. Or if there’s a car hurtling towards us and my child let’s go of my hand and tries to run towards it, I have been known to scream…!!!

Are these your friends? Or those random videos that crop up?

Mine are always of orphaned baby donkeys or bald but very spirited cockatoos.

You don't have to watch them.
