To think DP's employers are idiots?

Dp has been on leave for a few days. Yesterday he developed a cough and cold symptoms so today he's been for a PCR test.

He's due to return to work tomorrow so he telephoned to say he has symptoms and is getting a test today but his manager is insisting he should go in and doesn't need to self isolate as he's had two vaccines. He said if he gets his result and it's positive whilst at work tomorrow he can then go home.

This isn't right is it?
Everything I can see online says if you have symptoms you self isolate until you get your result.

This is a large national company that I thought should know better.

I can't believe they're being so stupid and negligent.
Dp deals with members of the public, surely he shouldn't be there before his test results if he has symptoms.

Or have I got this completely wrong?

Your husband should email hr to ask for official guidance on this.

greyspottedgoose · 07/12/2021 17:16

I'm sure you isolate until you get results, that's what I was told to do by my employer when I was waiting for my (positive 🤦🏼‍♀️) result two weeks ago, surely it's common sense?

logsonlogsoff · 07/12/2021 17:16

Nope,Not right. He’s supposed to self-isolate until he gets the PCR result.
If it’s positive the day or half day or whatever that he spends waiting for a result in work could mean he infects others.
He should copy and paste the guidance from the NHS website and tell them he’ll WFH.

logsonlogsoff · 07/12/2021 17:17

I’d you have symptoms you have symptoms ‘use of and loads of other people I know still got Covid after 2 x vaccinations.

logsonlogsoff · 07/12/2021 17:19

‘ If you have symptoms of COVID-19

Get a PCR test as soon as possible if you have any of these symptoms, even if mild:

a high temperature
a new, continuous cough
a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste
Stay at home until you get your test result – only leave your home to have a test. Check if people you live with need to self-isolate’

That’s from NHS website

More the manager is an idiot. HR would probably know the correct answer.

Yes I suspect it's the local manager who is short of staff and just wants the shifts covered that's the idiot. It's not a job where he can work from home.

Where does your husband work?
I work in a hospital and we are supposed to carry on working until we get a result. It’s madness I know.

Poptart4 · 07/12/2021 17:32

Maybe his manager doesn't believe he has symptoms.

You wouldn't believe the amount of people in my job who conveniently developed COVID symptoms the day before they were due back in work after taking some leave. Alot of people are using COVID to get afew more days off.

That may be true if you don’t have symptoms but not if you do!?

That's shocking to hear for a hospital

He’s got symptoms so of course he should isolate regardless of the jab . Oh yeah I’m sure his colleagues will love the fact if he comes in with suspected covid . If I was him I’d just make out I was feeling worse and won’t be in then see what the results say .

JustALittleHelpPlease · 07/12/2021 19:15

I also work on a hospital and that is absolutely not true of our trust or the other two trusts I work closely with. Which trust are you?

DaveMinion · 07/12/2021 19:41

Can't work while waiting for results at my Trust. Madness.
