So I work remotely, and today received invite to team meeting (10 people) for 16th December, 4 hour duration. Attend in person, so travel via trains and tube. Meeting room very cramped. Concerned about COVID risk and it wiping out Xmas. AIBU to suggest I dial in via video instead?

Are they expecting you to be there in person? Can you lower the risk of your commute eg off-peak train, walk instead of tube and ensure that meeting room windows are open? I'm assuming that everyone will be asked to take a lft before coming?

If you've been asked to attend in person surely that applies to all members of the team? Obviously you are quite within your rights to ask about the risk assessment in place.

It's a Christmas party isn't it? Grin

How odd. I'd say no or be ill that day

Daineseturbo · 06/12/2021 15:38

Sadly not a Christmas party!

The night before say you've just taken a Covid test and it's positive. Once the event is over and there's no risk of being called to another meeting before Xmas say you've had a second test and are clear.

Not unreasonable to ask but if they decline I’d just attend.

My office has said people don’t have to attend the office for the two weeks before (unless they want to).
