Formula feeding worries

Hi all, I have been feeding my newborn baby with powder formula in the day, and the ready to feed liquid cartons at night, both the SMA brand.

It has just suddenly occurred to me that I don’t know if I should be doing this? I remember the midwife saying when I was pregnant that you should stick to the same brand and shouldn’t keep changing, but she didn’t mention using both liquid and powder.

Does anyone know if this is ok? I’m having a panic here!

I think that's ok. Don't panic!

It’s fine. It’s the same stuff. Just one is UHT treated so it can be safer as a liquid than the powder

It's absolutely fine!

By mix and match she means you shouldn’t be topping up liquid formulas with powder (and vice versa). I know of a baby who had to go to hospital for weeks when her Dad did that to ‘save time’ - powders aren’t sterile and so shouldn’t be mixed in anything but boiling water. What you’re doing is fine.

I did the same, powder by day and ready made at night. Son is a healthy 3 year old
