To miss this time last year?

Just curious to see whether I’m alone in this!

Autumn/winter 2021 was actually really good for our family. (I know this wasn’t the case for so many, and I’m not trying to do one of those smug ‘oh how I loved lockdown’ type posts.)

There wasn’t much on so no pressure to get the kids to parties every weekend (yes, I know I could say no and I have to a couple - but I also don’t want them to feel left out when everyone at school is discussing it).
We planned for a quiet Christmas at home with just the 5 of us and that’s what we had, and it was blissful. The holidays were so stress free and calm. This year we have plans to see family abroad which are getting more headachey by the day, I’m not that keen to go anyway, it’s a terrible time for DH’s work but we feel like we have to try our hardest to do it because we haven’t seen everyone in so long.

And probably the biggest difference is that nobody we knew had covid last year. I get that’s probably unusual. Whereas this year, we’ve lost a very close friend to it, DD had it and was very ill, we’ve all had loads of tests because of close contacts/coughs etc… it seems much more prevalent not just locally but also amongst my FB friends nationwide, I guess because restrictions have been done away with?

So.. anyone else or am I being VVU?
