We are currently just outside north London. DH has just been offered a fully remote position . My employer has confirmed they want us to come in twice a week and this arrangement will be permanent.
House prices here are crazy. A 4 bed detached will cost us around £1M. However, schools are excellent. DS goes to a grammar school (30min door to door by bus, but because it’s so convenient we him off most days. 15 min drive) and we are in catchment for a very good secondary school for our Y1 twins.
Before biting the bullet and drowning ourselves in a large mortgage, please can I ask for recommendations on where we could move?
We’d like to live somewhere with :
- Good state schools. We can’t afford to go private for 3 kids.
- Safe, with some diversity (we are brown). Family friendly neighbourhoods.
- Within 1hr train ride to London (preferably London Bridge)
- House prices - £700k for a 4 bed detached with good size rooms.
