I'm so upset at hearing this news about the 12 year old lad losing his life.

Why have you posted this today? It was months ago.

Eileen101 · 03/12/2021 18:28

Yanbu

To pp, probably because there was a very sad article yesterday about how his parents lay with him as he died and after he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 03/12/2021 18:28

Putting a vote on this was unfortunate.

Vuvuvuzela · 03/12/2021 18:29

It was in the news again recently as the family are campaigning for helmets to become compulsory for activities like this.

Awful yeah. Such an unnecessary death. Sad

Beckert · 03/12/2021 18:30

Oh that's utterly heartbreaking. I hadn't heard this. That poor boy. And his family. So very sad.

Tevion28 · 03/12/2021 18:31

I've only just found out it's just popped up on the news. I didn't realise I had a vote onBlush

Why? Confused
Furrydogmum · 03/12/2021 18:35

Broke my heart yesterday reading about the inquest and his parents testimonials 😞

Absolutely shocking that they aren’t already tbh. I haven’t skied in 8 years but even then any activities on the mountain, helmets were compulsory.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 03/12/2021 18:40

I have a feeling you have to click something to get rid of the voting option, which is bad, because on a thread like this who's going to say the OP is unreasonable? It's a very sad accident and of course we are all upset about it.

Clymene · 03/12/2021 18:43

Helmets aren't compulsory on 'the mountain' @HerRoyalNotness unless you're talking about a specific place. I've never worn a helmet skiing until very recently but it's certainly not compulsory

LadyCatStark · 03/12/2021 18:44

It’s awful and shouldn’t have happened. At Chill Factor in Manchester all under 16s (maybe 18s) have had to wear helmets for all activities for the whole time we’ve been going. Why on Earth would it not be the same for the Snowdome and why would tobogganing and skiing happen on the same slope?
