Would you send child into school or keep at home?

DD broke and swallowed part of a Christmas tree decoration today (made of glass and resin!). Took to a&e, was sent home but said that if she develops any further symptoms within 24 hours she has to go straight back. She was already at home for something else and due to go back tomorrow, where the class are travelling around 50 minutes away for a school trip.

Would you send DD in or keep at home given how far away they’ll be if they did become more unwell since it would be within the 24 hour period?

100% keep at home

wouldthatbeworse · 01/12/2021 19:15

I’m pretty relaxed about random swallowing incidents but even I would keep at home in these circs.

Iggly · 01/12/2021 19:16

Home!

LakeShoreD · 01/12/2021 19:16

Definitely keep home given the school trip and the distance involved

TakeMe2Insanity · 01/12/2021 19:22

Home!

LolaSmiles · 01/12/2021 19:22

I would probably keep them at home and would explain to school that you've been to A&E, they've said symptoms could come up within 24 hours and you want DC to remain home to monitor.

girlmom21 · 01/12/2021 19:25

Definitely home. You just never know.

SarahJeffers341 · 01/12/2021 19:25

Home for sure. I would be too worried. Am sure she will be ok!

Wannakisstheteacher · 01/12/2021 19:31

Home. 100%

Suzanne999 · 01/12/2021 19:32

Def stay at home.

TreeLawney · 01/12/2021 19:38

Home! This would be very stressful on a school trip, I’m sure the teachers will feel you have made the right call.

OnceuponaRainbow18 · 01/12/2021 19:42

Home, As a teacher I wouldn’t take her on a trip tomo given what you’ve just said.

Hope she’s ok

HelplesslyHoping · 01/12/2021 19:43

Keep at home, it's better to be safe and sorry. If she's upset about the trip you can do a fun day at home with her tomorrow to make up for it.

SENmummy73848 · 01/12/2021 20:00

Thank you for your quick responses! Yes I’ve emailed the teacher and said I would panic too much and would rather keep an eye on her at home, I agree - it’s also a great worry and responsibility to put onto a teacher too and I wouldn’t want that x

Keep at home definitely

HeadPain · 01/12/2021 22:09

Home, so you can monitor your child as you've been advised to.

Comedycook · 01/12/2021 22:11

If it was my DD I'd keep her at home if only for my own sanity! Hope she's ok
