I feel like I must have been living in a cave or something, but I had literally no idea. I mean, I knew it would be Craig's last film as Bond, but still. Watched it last night and still processing it (I am only half joking).

If you watch to the very end of the credits it says

"James Bond will return"

In big letters

garlicandsapphires · 01/12/2021 16:53

I didn’t see it coming either OP. It was an amazing ending and I cried.

WheelieBinPrincess · 01/12/2021 16:55

I didn’t love it, all felt too long, I was actually really underwhelmed by the ending.

GingerFigs · 01/12/2021 16:56

I like a happy ending, pathetic I know. But I wanted the skipping off into the sunset ending lol 😂

Newgirls · 01/12/2021 16:56

I was really shocked! Thought he would sail away with his lovely family.

PicaK · 01/12/2021 16:57

Just the title of your thread gives the game away though to anyone with half a brain

Hanswurst · 01/12/2021 16:59

I didn’t expect it either!! But I thought it was a bit stupid… surely you would just wait for technology to advance enough to kill off the nano-bots?! And face-time until then 🤷🏻‍♀️ I did enjoy the film but not happy with the ending. I thought it was unnecessarily sad and not what I enjoy about a Bond film. I like my Bond to be invincible, that’s the whole point!

Whatafustercluck · 01/12/2021 17:04

@garlicandsapphires I cried too! Can honestly say that's a first with a Bond film. Didn't help that his daughter is my dd's age!

OP posts:
Whatafustercluck · 01/12/2021 17:06

Can't quite understand how they can say "James Bond will return". I could understand it if they said "007 will return" (it's just a number, right?)

WhyOhWine · 01/12/2021 17:13

SO the options are:

1, He somehow escapes

  1. Future films are prequels
  2. They go back to the old days when the films were standalone with no attempt at continuity and just ignore the ending of this one
4 Shower scene/ dream 5 There is a new person called James Bond - maybe she was pregnant with a son?

Other possibilities?

MrsBerthaRochester · 01/12/2021 17:15

Saved me £15 on a ticket there. cheers. Daniel Craig is a moany luvvie and fugly. I cant wait for a decent Bond again. Rege jean page please!

WhenTheDragonsCame · 01/12/2021 17:19

I'm too familiar with James Bond but isn't the name an alias? I didn't think the Daniel Craig bond was supposed to be the same person as the other bonds.

ProfessionalWeirdo · 01/12/2021 17:24

I'd had my suspicions about the ending, even before seeing the film, after seeing odd comments in the press. It will be interesting to see what happens next.

On another matter, it must surely have set a new record for the longest sequence before the opening credits!

PlinkPlankPlunk · 01/12/2021 17:27

The opening scenes were brilliant - I was jumping around in my seat!

ComeAllYeFaithful · 01/12/2021 17:32

Yup 😭😭😭

DaisyNGO · 01/12/2021 17:35

Is it any dofferent to usual James Bond films?

DP wants to go and keeps saying about Phoebe WB as writer.

DedalusBloom · 01/12/2021 17:36

I just don't understand how they're all called James Bond , share the same back story, have the same job and have been pitted against the same enemies since the 60s but are also only ever in their 40s without even the whiff of suspicion that they must therefore be a shapeshifting lizard person.

DedalusBloom · 01/12/2021 17:39

Also it really annoyed me that the daughter was supposed to be 5, but was clearly about 3. I'm sure it was because an actual 5 year old would be too galumphing for Remii Malik to pick up in one arm and shoot with the other while swivelling his eyes in an appropriately manic fashion. But it really niggled at me.

Ninananna · 01/12/2021 17:53

I was disappointed with the whole film. Actually fell asleep in the middle, (watching at home)!

Ginger1982 · 01/12/2021 19:09

I thought it was too long but I did tear up a bit at the end. I don't see how he could possibly survive that. It is a bit ridiculous that there is no continuity. No mention ever of Tracy Bond for example.

Newgirls · 01/12/2021 19:11

I agree that’s there’s been very little continuity in the past - tho I did like the ‘we have all the time in the world’ which was a nod to Tracy? Rather lovely

shinynewapple21 · 01/12/2021 20:13

Started watching with DH on the weekend . After the first half hour he started moaning it was boring (not enough car chases Hmm). We turned it off as he was spoiling it with his moaning , and TBF it did seem quite long winded .

I imagine we'll give it another go at a later date - or I will when he's out .

Laiste · 01/12/2021 20:49

Apparently - and i'm just passing this on - Q has JB's vital signs on a monitor right next to him for the whole of the, ahem, ''ending'' of the film, and the eagle eyed viewer will notice that the heart monitor never flatlines .... even after the ....

Gawd knows how he'd have got out of that though!? :(

MorganKitten · 01/12/2021 20:58

Bond/007 is a code name and others have been called that, kinda the point.
