Hair in the plughole

Greydogs123 · 30/11/2021 21:21

Aibu to ask my partner to remove the hair from the plughole every time it's left in there?
My partner is making me feel as if I am being unreasonable because whenever he's had a shower there is a little circle of hair left in the plughole which means the water drains slowly. I used to pick it out and chuck it in the bin, but it's just started really annoying me as I do the bulk of the cleaning and it just feels like one more job which I shouldn't even have to do because why can't he just check after his shower and remove it?
He said to me this evening after I asked him to come up and get rid of it "I would just remove your hair, I wouldn't make such a fuss about it", but the point is I DON'T LEAVE ANY, BLOODY, HAIR IN THE PLUGHOLE!
Sorry, rant over AIBU?

No not at all, perhaps save a sizeable amount and present them it on a saucer with a cuppa?

You can get those hair catchers for the plug hole if you haven’t got one already?

EasyLikeSundays · 30/11/2021 21:43

Get a hair catcher. Ask him to empty that. Before he showers show him the catcher is empty so you can prove he is BU. Does he have long hair? YANBU.

Twizbe · 30/11/2021 22:01

Not unreasonable for him to clear his own hair.

Hair removal from drains is totally my job because it's only possible to be my hair. It's mess my husband didn't make so he doesn't need to clean it up.

billy1966 · 30/11/2021 22:20

Why are you doing the bulk of the cleaning?

Did you move in to become his skivvy?

If not give your head a shake.

How little respect must he have for you that he won't even clear the plug.

My teens do that (because they have been taught to clean up after themselves).

Do not accept this bullshit from him.

We teach people how to treat us, he is treating you like a house skivvy, and you are accepting it.

Huge mistake.

Although you shouldn’t have to deal with his hair, try one of these www.robertdyas.co.uk/cillit-bang-max-unblocker-drain-cleaning-kit?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI577Fh5nC9AIV1WDmCh2Diw1NEAAYASAAEgKNfPD_BwE
I used one a couple of months ago and whilst it’s disgusting to see what came out of the plug hole, it was strangely interesting.

Greydogs123 · 01/12/2021 13:38

I’m glad I’m not unreasonable. I don’t mind doing the bulk of the cleaning because he works full time and I work very part time and am studying, so he is supporting that. It just really wound me up last night.

Just to say that some useful person will come to this thread to tell you to put Veet down the drain to get rid of the hair. IT DOES NOT WORK. All you’re left with is a splodgy, sticky, goopy mess. And still a disgusting hair salad.

CloudyStorms · 01/12/2021 13:41

Disgusting

Talipesmum · 01/12/2021 14:07

I absolutely love pulling hair out of the plug hole. It’s extremely satisfying. I’m likely to be the biggest culprit in the house as I have the longest hair, but I really don’t care if it’s someone else’s. I am aware this is disgusting but I am also happy in sporners corner.

ColinTheKoala · 01/12/2021 14:12

I find pulling hair out of the plughole gross and it's nearly all mine! DH and DS have short hair.

I can understand why you don't want to do it OP. A hair catcher is a good idea.

This was what it got out of my bath I was torn between throwing up and feeling so satisfied with having obliterated the source of the slow draining

Sometimes these problems resolve themselves.
If he's loosing that much hair, that often, you need not worry - he'll be bald soon!

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 01/12/2021 14:23

'losing' not 'loosing'

maybloss2 · 05/12/2021 20:57

Hi op, this is a perennial problem that stalks our bathrooms.
Hair once it’s left our bodies becomes an issue. Increasingly over the years I find it more and more revolting. I don’t really know why.
But I do believe that we should all clean up our own messes. And that means our hair.
If he does it again present him with the results. And keep doing it until he does it for himself.

OnAWobblyFence · 05/12/2021 21:01

If you’re 100% certain it’s not yours, for example you have no hair, then he should go all the removing from the drain. But just because he may be going bald or thinning, doesn’t mean it can’t be your hair. We all lose hair all the time. The more often you clean it out, the less gross it is.
