To tumble dry BAM bamboo socks?

Muststopeating · 29/11/2021 19:25

Never heard of bamboo socks but various threads on MN have convinced me that my DH would like them (and just like that we are officially middle aged). I am planning to buy a 4 pack from BAM.

However, having just been without my tumble dryer for several months during a refurb, I will never (never ever never) again line dry socks or pants.

So:

YANBU - I have bamboo socks from BAM and tumble dry them all the time. They are fine.

YABU - If you tumble dry them then they will be ruined and you might as well set your money on fire.

I'm amazed at all these BAM sock lovers, I tried the free ones and they kept falling down as I walked.

But I do rate the BAM yoga tops, they're very good, but I wouldn't tumble dry them.

I tumble dry all my BAM clothes, when needed, on a low setting. I find if I try to dry them indoors, they take ages and smell musty.

@rrhuth

YABU to use a tumble dryer at all due to energy use, so I hope it does shrink your socks, which is illogical but I am vindictive Grin
I know, I know and I am sorry. If it helps in anyway, I tumble dry pants, socks, vests, sheets and towels (which are not washed as often they should be) and I consolidate from multiple wash. It would normally take me 3 washes before I put on the tumble sryer. (i cluster my laundry for that very reason). Everything else is on the airer.

It is also an exceptionally efficient dryer!

Thanks so much to everyone else... looks like tumble drying should be okay with a potential risk to toes. May give it a go, as socks and nice leather gloves is about all I can come up with this year. Poor begar!

@Fastforwardtospring

I love my BAM socks, love that I’ve had 4 free pairs! Comfiest socks ever. Mine get tumbled on hot.
I keep getting sent them too! 👏👏👏
JessicaPipsqueak · 29/11/2021 22:00

I keep being sent these and I've no idea why

Neolara · 29/11/2021 22:04

I clearly need to stop buying things from Bam so they can try and tempt me back with free socks.

Stressedmummyof4 · 29/11/2021 22:07

I buy bamboo for my kids, asd with sensory issues surrounding seams drives me round the bend lol. The ankle ones seem to tumble dry fine but the trainer ones for my elder daughter do seem to shrink a little.

I can recommend the bamboo range from sock shop they are amazingly soft, we buy bamboo tights ancle trainer and knee high socks and all have been amazing x

My husband only ever wears BAM socks. I Chuck them in the tumble dryer all the time. No problems.

Clymene · 29/11/2021 22:13

I tumble dry everything. All the bam socks. All fine

minipie · 29/11/2021 22:15

I tumble dry my BAM socks all the time.

They never come out fully dry though, I always have to leave them hung up overnight to finish off. But that’s because they are soooo thick and comfy so I forgive them.

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 29/11/2021 22:29

Are you not supposed to tumble them? Shows how much I read the labels. If something can't be machine washed and tumbled it doesn't belong in my house! I love the BAM socks, I have about 5 pairs of freebies plus some bought ones and all go in the drier. I have some of their sports leggings too and tumble those, am I not supposed to? They seem to have survived so far!

YABU to use a tumble dryer at all due to energy use

Can't imagine not using a tumble drier in a UK winter - stuff would be drying on radiators every day - causing damp issues.

Have never encountered this issue, we use one of the ceiling things by an open window, it is fine.

They keep sending me free pairs. I’ve never actually bought anything from them. So far this year I’ve been send four pairs.
Is this a thing? They seem lovely.

DartmoorChef · 29/11/2021 23:40

I think my post has been missed .. but could anyone please answer if these socks have seams in the toes.

They don’t have seams and they do some with a roll top, so no tight rib. My dad and husband love them.
DartmoorChef · 30/11/2021 00:09

Fantastic. I will get some for DP as he hates the thick toe seams on socks and comfy ones are so difficult to find. Thankyou. 🙂

Knickynackynoo · 30/11/2021 07:52

I do they're fine.

BarbaraofSeville · 30/11/2021 08:08

YABU. You need a socktopus

I tumble dry as little as possible as it ruins clothes, so manage fine with an airer for most things if the weather isn't good for line drying.

I now need to know what BAM socks are and why they keep sending people free pairs

chesterelly1 · 30/11/2021 08:37

I've had several conversations re BAM socks recently with my phone on to test if they are listening and send me another free pair, I have 5 so I might have reached their cut off point. Mine usually get 20 minutes in the tumble dryer then finish on bathroom towel rail.

Boood · 30/11/2021 08:49

How is everyone making their BAM socks last years? I love them and are gradually replacing all my other socks with them, but the ones I run in get holes in the toes within months.

OverByYer · 30/11/2021 12:28

How bizarre. BAM have sent me another free pair of socks this morning. 2nd pair in a month.
