To ask them to put the traffic lights back?

I Houses being built in the field opposite the end of our street.

Contractors put in 3 way temporary traffic lights initially but have inexplicably put it down to two sets of lights, and moved the one for the main road traffic.

One end is now at one side of our junction, with a “when red light shows wait here” sign at the opposite side.

Obviously the intention is to keep the junction clear but so many drivers are idiots and block half of it. Coming through the lights and unable to turn right into my street, my choices are block the area through the lights or go 1/2 mile up the road, round the roundabout and join the back of the really long queue to I can then turn left into my street.

Aibu to contact the contractors and ask them to put the third set back in and the set on the road back to the other side of the junction so people can get in and out of the street?

yep, needs a digram

Best diagram I could manage.

In a new move since last night, the contractors have moved the "wait here" sign from where lights 2 was to the traffic island, meaning drivers are now blocking the junction by instruction rather than stupidity

To ask them to put the traffic lights back?

I would contact the local highways department. It is them who 'pass' the requests for restrictions.

No YANBU Contact the contractors and council planning dept.
If that fails see if they are on the considerate contractors scheme and maybe your local councillors.l

I'd be contacting the council roads or area planning department to see if there would be any way to install a yellow box there. Even without the temporary traffic lights, surely with the roundabout traffic can be backed up if you're looking to come out of your estate and turn right?

It doesn't back up all that badly - just when these lights are put in
