To warn you when internet shopping …

Remember to check the website is who you think it is. Feel v foolish as last weekend was shopping for a specific jumper from olive for my DDs birthday - it was £100 - quite pricy - so I was thrilled to see later in the day that it was now around 40% cheaper. However this was because the second time i searched, I was actually looking at a knock off of the olive website that looked exactly the same as the original and not the real thing. There were clues there in the domain name that should have warned me but I missed them. I just assumed it was a Black Friday sale. Anyway no product and also weird credit card entry from China that doesn’t match what I agreed to pay and also a ‘foreign currency transaction fee’ so big stress, had to cancel my credit card just before Christmas etc and now they have my phone number etc so greater risk of fraud. Feel so stupid although the bank were lovely about it and I should get my money back.

It's so hard to dodge these - the sites can be very convincing. I hope you get your money back

I did this with a football shirt once, the actual price was only about £5 difference and it was one it the first sites to come up on a Google shirt. When it arrived it was an extremely good fake. I bet lots of people had been stung and not realised.

I did the same on Black Friday a few years back. Same weird Chinese name on email and bank account Bank were great and refunded the money, all sorted.

Then around February time I had a delivery of a cheap t shirt with a fake Ralph Loren label on it 🤣🤣.

Good reminder. I often follow links from here & though mostly just look to see what people are talking about, it would be easy to get caught out if buying something.

I hope you get your money back ok!

Don't feel stupid, it could happen to most of us!!

Whenever I use a site I have never used before, even if it looks legit, I ask google if it’s a proper site.

Nearly spent £30 on something that retails for nearly £100 but all the google reviews said “no! It’s a scam and a fake” so I didn’t

Easy done, I think I'm quite savvy but I've been caught out.
A good reminder in the run up to Christmas though, thanks op
