Tory MPs get away with anything and everything

Tory MP Scott Benton is lobbying parliament to scrap the 'ridiculous' Human Rights Act twitter.com/ScottBentonMP/status/1464192920760860699?t=R-Ox3WfXye0NTdrYGTWYcQ&s=19

Not quite sure which principle he doesn't agree with ...the right to life perhaps? Confused

Culture secretary Nadine Dorries says she doesn't believe Boris Johnson's dad groped the women accusing him of sexual harassment because it never happened to her.

AIBU that Tory MPs can be as awful as they like and they'd still be supported?

YANBU. Our local MP owns sugar daddy websites. Many calls to remove the whip, all ignored.

Doubt he will get re-elected though as we are a very red area normally, people were voting for Brexit.

What?! 👀
And I thought I'd heard it all!

You're absolutely right, OP. But I doubt you'll get much worthwhile response on MN.

I looked for a thread on Boris Johnson's father, even before Dorries said, "I don't believe you". Tumbleweed. Obviously not a topic that would get interest on MN.Hmm

You'll just get a stream of posters who troop on, chant "At least he knows what a woman is," and troop off again. As if the Tories haven't followed the same path re the balancing of trans & women's rights. Especially unelected Carrie Symonds in Downing St.

Or they'll chant, "But Starmer's unelectable [no reason given]." As if Johnson's Peppa Pig performance – and entire previous record – were that of an electable man.

Give up.

Enough people wanted this, and we're all now getting what they asked for, and getting it good and hard.

GreenLunchBox · 28/11/2021 23:10

You are so right, PerkingFaintly
I didn't want to start this thread. I kept looking out to see if anyone would mention either issue, but no 🥴
Must admit you made me lol with this comment:

Yeah, I toyed with starting a thread on Stanley Johnson – and now Dorries. But didn't expect to get more than about 2 replies.

It's not like they're anyone significant or influential, after all.Hmm

Stanley Johnson is a wife beater so I wasn't at all surprised to find out that he is also a sexually-harrassing letch.

I didn't even know this until I read the Nadine Dorries story. Funny how our lovely media protect the ones they want to protect 🤔

And if you want to know what kind of person Nadine Dories is you need only look back at some of her past tweets where she makes comments against gay marriage and likens it to incest, asks "how am I a racist?" after saying two entirely different black people look the same, then goes on to make that same mistake again with two British Asian women, shared doctored videos from far-right groups, accessed a Liverpool newspaper of fake news despite them quoting her directly, and more. She loves GBeebies, refers to the Left as "snowflakes" (a phrase that usually indicates the person using it is a right twat), was accused of having an affair with a married man (however he said that they were just friends and their romantic relationship only started after he told his wife their marriage was over), and wants to roll back abortion rights.

GreenLunchBox · 29/11/2021 01:18

Nadine Dorries is also the one who tweeted lies that Italy had stopped intubating anyone over the age of 60 with covid when they were having their crisis. The Italian government actually replied to her and asked her to retract her statement as it was false twitter.com/pjmeade/status/1463873916145971206?t=rYg45N9L1Py2q0G6ZoBO3w&s=19

In the olden days (ie before this shower of imbeciles) you would be sacked for incompetence. These days they just laugh it off. It's so strange how far England has fallen. A tinpot nation. Nobody can trust our word...just full of corruption and lies.

Effective democracy requires a well-informed electorate. We don't have that and given that the balance of the mainstream media is shifted to the right (even the BBC to smaller degrees), we'll never get a well-informed electorate.

The Tories will continue being able to do whatever they want and get away with it, especially if they manage to shift power from the courts and set the Government up as sovereign as they are trying to do now.

Whatwouldscullydo · 29/11/2021 07:14

Unfortunately, all the other parties have made themselves unelectable.

We now have to live with the risk that the tories have the power to do whatever they like as long as they stay even just slightly more electable than than rest.

Its a shit show

EishetChayil · 29/11/2021 07:17

For what it's worth, I'm as gender critical as they come, but would sooner slice off my arms than vote Tory. I refuse to buy into the divisions the Right has sown within the Left regarding identity politics. It's embarrassingly transparent, and I can't believe more people haven't caught on.

But Jeremy Corbyn spoke to a terrorist.
JackieWeaverHandforthCouncil · 29/11/2021 08:39

But but Megan didn’t wear tights! Surely that’s more important and warrants a 40 page thread. Not this. Plus all the other members of all the others parties want to replace women with trans blah blah blah.

wavingwhilstdrowning · 29/11/2021 08:52

My MP punched his son at at local petrol station. They are horrific.

joangray38 · 29/11/2021 08:56

I think it’s hilarious that Conservative MOs can get away with being admitted wife beaters, sacked , corruption allegations but my Godfather who has belonged to their party for well over 60 years and a Con Cllr for over 30 got suspended from the party for daring to speak out for his Constituents’ rights when their Council changed was downgraded, less local powers.

You mean you believe the lies told against other political parties & individuals.......

The Daily Mail says Labour is unelectable, whilst supporting a man who makes brumm brumm noises and waffles on about a childrens play park, which, by the tone of your post, you will vote for.

Anotherhill · 29/11/2021 09:16

I think there’s good and bad in all parties to be fair. If it was just the Tories it’d be easier to hold them to account.

Whatwouldscullydo · 29/11/2021 09:41

You mean you believe the lies told against other political parties & individuals

I dont need to decide what's lies or not.

Standing up in front of hundreds of people amd saying rapists should choose their prison and sending letters to constituents saying they don't want their votes was enough for me.

BTW I spoiled my ballot because I couldn't in good conscience vote for any of them

Nandy did NOT actually say that at all, though the headline of the Mail online would have you believe otherwise.
Whatwouldscullydo · 29/11/2021 13:31

I saw the video clip myself. Its on you tube for all to see.

But nice try.

They are all prepared to throw women and children under a bus for woke points.

Or should I say non men cos that's what the green party called us.
