Wedding is 3 weeks today. Pushed back from last Dec.

What are the chances it goes ahead now there's a new variant on the block....

YANBU - it will
YABU - it won't

It will be fine! All the news out of South Africa is that new variant is very mild and not causing significant symptoms. Everyone will have calmed down soon.

Can't imagine the stress though. Can you try to Stop reading the mail.

I feel your pain op, we moved ours 4 times before we managed to go ahead with a tiny wedding at the start of the year. You need to decide what you'll compromise on, would you still go ahead with 15 people? Or would you cancel? It's soul destroying not knowing, I just wanted our day over with by the time we did it (as I couldn't take any more worry) but it turned out to be a lovely day. Good luck xx

I actually don't see restrictions returning. The government seem keen to plough on now, and people like Hancock have been sidelined.

I think the government has finally realised locking the whole country up has many negative side effects not related to Covid.

The media live this sort of thing, bad news equals more clicks, they try to make the situation sound worse than it is.

@OnlyFoolsnMothers

I’m sure it will be allowed- restrictions can’t come back with the economy. Imo the variant talk is to encourage boosters
I'd like to think this but then after the past 18 months nothing surprises me anymore

Thanks all. Really really hoping you are all right!

Any restrictions on mixing would be ignored, so then they would close businesses but not stop infections because people would mingle in private. If they enforce restrictions when we have so many vaccinated it sends a message that basically the vaccine doesn’t work and we have no plan b- no government wants to be seen to confirm this. Europe’s restrictions are due to the shockingly low vaccination figures. Fingers x OP

Nonsense. I have never heard anything from the government that alludes to this in any way.

I'm sure Boris said it was being reviews again in 3 weeks so I 'think' you will just slip in before any restrictions come in. I got married last August though so completely get how stressed you are. Good luck OP and I hope you get your special day x

I think this side of Christmas you will be ok but I absolutely get the anxiety.

A colleague just got married last week after five postponements. Has really been a very difficult time for everyone wanting to get married and no proper end in sight sadly

We had to go from 180 guests to 30 as the restrictions changed the week before our wedding. People were on to 3rd and 4th dates which seemed like a faff as you then have everything to rearrange. We decided to go ahead with smaller numbers as felt we felt being married was what was most important to us, not the day itself. We had the best day and honestly didn't feel like we missed out. Hope whatever happens you will have a lovely wedding when it comes xx
