My DH's parents sent him a present for his birthday. Hooray! They live in Australia and we had a £35 customs charge to pay. His mum said "ooh, hurry up to the post office! You're going to love your gift. Let me know what you think!"
We paid the customs charge. It contains some Australian sweets for the kids and DH's present. Unwrapped to reveal..... A glittering framed photo of their dog. A dog he's never met!!
Wtf? Why on Earth would they think he would love that? Why would anyone? Am I some mad weirdo to be looking at this gift thinking his parents have lost the plot? They've got form for head scratchers when it comes to gifts. One year they sent him a copy of The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Another, some silky boxer shorts with initials embroidered on. For his 21st, when he was on military detachment, he got a cake tin with no cake in it. Every year he says "honestly, I'm happy with just a card." This present is the most bizarre yet.
AIBU to tell him that he should be clear with his parents that he prefers socks and chocolate?
