Amazon did't refund my money for the returned item

Hello!
I have ordered new graphics card on Amazon. The package I received contained a completely different graphics card, on top of that it had signs of usage with dust on the fans and scratches on the frame. The mailing box was sealed without any signs of being opened, however the box of the graphics card itself came without any safety wrap or seals. After that I have left a review of the product on Amazon and attached photos of the used graphics card. Then I contacted customer service and followed their instructions. They told me to send the graphics card back to Amazon. Upon receiving the graphics card I was told that I won’t get the money back because it was a different card. However, I don’t have another card, I returned the only card sent to me by Amazon. I was refused a refund and the card I’ve returned was disposed.
Our family are regular customers at Amazon. Out of all the purchases we haven’t returned anything except this graphics card.
No money, no graphics card
What would you do?

Phone them. Don’t do the bot chat, it’s painful. I’ve always found the phone people helpful.

This appears to be rather common and happened to my friend. The GC inside the box was clearly used and was a much older model compared to the one advertised. I suspect some people are ordering a new GC, replacing it with their older GC and then retiring the old GC for a refund. Bloody cheeky! As the previous poster mentioned, speak to an Amazon rep and explain what's happened. The bot is useless in this situation.

Phone them. How did you communicate with them originally when they told you to return it? Do you have a transcript?
Graphics cards aren't cheap - you have to fight them on this.

Definitely contact again! I prefer the online chat it takes a little while as they must chat to more than one at a time but usually get things sorted well. Good luck!

You need to get Amazon to call you - there's a place on the website where you can request they call your phone number. It happens almost instantly and then you get to speak to a real person. I've used this service a couple of times and the person has always been really helpful.

This happened to us, twice! we kept on at Amazon to replace or refund. In the end they closed all accounts linked to our home address and we lost said item value and numerous downloads on Prime too. They are non negotiable on reopening the account - so do be careful.

On a brighter note, I don't actually miss it and enjoying shopping more locally for the things I need quickly!
