The French are threatening to blockage French ports and Eurotunnel tomorrow because they cant get what they want re fishing rights. Am I missing something here, but how can they blackmail a third country into giving them things? When the vast number of fishermen that have rights at the moment come to renegotiate, will we be forced i nto giving in to them because they will blockade the country. How is it the French always seem to get away with things l ike this when they cant get their own way, do they do it with other countries, or just us ?

YANBU but everything is always the fault of the Uk (more specifically the English) on MN so expect a load of flaming about why it's all our fault.

It's macron. He's a egomaniac twit who hates Britain.
My children are half french and I love France but boy oh boy he's not doing them any favours.

They have the same problems as us regarding the media putting a spin on things.

I have spent an awful lot of time in France and all the people I've met have expressed like / respect for Britain and the british but this is politics sadly which is very often out of step with the people.

The French tend to blame Britain for everything. Just as populist politicians in Scotland blame the English for whatever bad things happen, French politicians blame the British. They hold grudges and it will be a long while before they forget the fact we dared to leave the EU.

Remember Charles de Gaulle blocked Britain from joining the EU for years. His reason? Britain had sheltered him from the Nazis in World War II. Something like that can never be forgiven, obviously?!
