Oh OP, poor you Thanks. Drinks lots of water and strip off as much as you can to bring the fever down. You must feel rotten. Do you have anyone with you?

I'm awake, with raging toothache.

needtogetfit21 · 25/11/2021 03:02

Oh no OP hope you can get some sleep. Do you have any ibuprofen?

MarriedNotAtFirstSight · 25/11/2021 03:03

Ps try taking some ibuprofen too, my daughter had a random virus with a high fever last week (not Covid) and it was only alternating between paracetamol and ibuprofen that brought her temp down

Seaweasel · 25/11/2021 03:05

Hello @AllTheWeetabix and @MarriedNotAtFirstSight. I am sorry you guys are suffering. I'm awake worrying about my adult DD's mental health and because it's 3am I am now worrying about absolutely everything that's ever happened ever as well. But anyway, you are not alone!

Thanks does your dd have support?
Seaweasel · 25/11/2021 03:07

Good call on alternating the paracetamol and the ibuprofen though - that's worked for me before.

upsidedoo · 25/11/2021 03:09

Oh that sounds awful. With a temp I usually just do paracetamol.

Seaweasel · 25/11/2021 03:15

@needtogetfit21 - yes, but she's at uni and I would rather she just came home! @AllTheWeetabix - hope you get some sleep Flowers

Sobeyondthehills · 25/11/2021 03:27

I suffer from anxiety started to think about something from about 20 years ago and that was my sleep gone.

Not even something serious, I have done far more embarressing stuff

Hope you feel better soon, there are some real shit bugs doing the rounds at the moment

Amandasummers · 25/11/2021 03:35

No advice op but I’m here if you want a chat!

Silveryfox · 25/11/2021 03:44

I'm isolating with Covid at the moment and cant sleep either. Monday night I was so shivery it was uncontrollable. I've been taking paracetamol and ibuprofen together, inbetween taking lemsip with lots of honey and this has helped. Its horrid isnt it? My heart rate has also been all over the place, even just lying in bed. Hope you'll soon be feeling slightly better!

AllTheWeetabix · 25/11/2021 03:48

I’ve done a LFT and it’s negative but I no they aren’t reliable, I have a 4 year old off school with tonsillitis at the moment and a partner refusing to help with childcare tomorrow. Can’t get back to sleep I feel so uncomfortable I ache absolutely everywhere!

Thanks for the reply’s. I take sertraline and I don’t think I’m able to take ibuprofen with it I’ll need to check.

Toothache is the absolute worse I found the green corsdyl mouthwash works a treat and an ice pack

Thank you, I hope you partner stops being an arse and helps, or if he does come down with a bug do fuck all for him.

Amandasummers · 25/11/2021 04:05

I’ve pm’d you @AllTheWeetabix

Vio112 · 25/11/2021 04:11

Commiserations to those with Covid :(
I'm up with a colicky 4 week old baby. She won't go down in the crib, won't co sleep, cluster feeds and randomly screams her little head off. I can deal with the total lack of sleep, the screaming is awful though. Feel like a terrible mother!

RedDeadRoach · 25/11/2021 04:21

Sorry for everyone who is feeling shitty. My child keeps coughing keeping us all awake. I've decamped to the sofa and dh is in our bed with him but i can still hear him (obviously i know it's not his fault but it's the 3rd night in a row. Sad).

RedDeadRoach · 25/11/2021 04:21

Vio112 i remember those days well! It's totally normal, you're doing great Smile

@Silveryfox - hope you're feeling better now, but just wanted to flag that you need to be sure careful: lemsip has paracetamol in it, so you can't end up overdosing if you're taking paracetamol as well on top. Worth thinking back over what you've taken, checking back to make sure you haven't, and calling 111 if it turns out you have.

Apologies for the overstep if indeed you were aware (as you may well be) but it's often the case that people don't know.

Silveryfox · 25/11/2021 04:46

Are you my mum? Lol. Just joking - she messaged me earlier to say that exact thing Haha. I'm 48 and have had to take various meds and painkillers my whole life but she still thinks of me as a ditzy teenager 🙄 I do appreciate the sentiment of your message though, thank you. Yes I'm aware and keep track of what I've taken and when.

Cheeseandtomatospider · 25/11/2021 05:21

Sorry you are feeling so unwell OP and sympathies to everyone else awake with either illness or worries.
I’m awake as usual because I’ve recently developed severe anxiety and insomnia from being in the middle of a health scare for which I am awaiting diagnosis.
My brain just will not let me switch off all the awful thoughts and even if I do manage through sheer exhaustion to drop off I am woken up by a panic attack within a couple of hours. So here I am wide awake since 2:30am heart pounding, shaking like a leaf and hideously envious of my family who are all asleep.
Horrible.
I know my reason for being awake is different to yours OP but hopefully it’s some comfort to know you’re not alone in it.

FreddyMercurysCat · 25/11/2021 05:36

I've developed something awful since yesterday evening and been up all night aching too. I gave up around 4am and have been in the bath ever since - I feel almost human in here.

Hope everyone has managed to get some sleep

AllTheWeetabix · 25/11/2021 11:32

God I feel dreadful, I’ve been for a covid test and now on the sofa shivering. Not one person would help with childcare and I honestly don’t feel safe to have her alone I feel weak and faint, sipping lucozade to keep my sugar up. Quite disappointed in the lack of support from my partner never mind Ay.
