Unwanted visits

Hiya
When visiting someone out of obligation rather than actually wanting to, how long is reasonable to stay? Is an hour ok without seeming rude?

I'd say the time taken to receive and drink a cup of tea. This is why we offer tea upon arrival, so there is a clear end point.

I would visit 30 mins before school run or another commitment so you have to be out by a certain time.

Why do you feel the need to visit at all? Just asking!!

It's my husband ms family who don't have much involvement so I don't want to spend a lot of time but feel I should still make a bit effort

That's great, I think it's a natural end which is softer than up and leaving
