Your own experiences - vaccines & Endo

Hi all, this is my first post so I hope I've put this in the right area...

First off I am 31M, my partner 27F has endometriosis. She has always had concerns about fertility but thankfully was able to bring our beautiful daughter into the world.

Anyway to the actual point of the post -

Neither of us are anti vaxxers I myself am double vaxxed, my partners biggest concern regarding the vaccine is that she has read a number of women experiencing abnormal periods or suffering stronger pains since getting the vaccine. Given the pains she experiences with her Endo she is concerned that the vaccine could make this worse. There is very little actual research being done despite a number of women raising concerns. I'm really hoping this doesn't start an arguement but if anyone on here has experienced any side effects could you let us know?

My concerns were peaked when I recently learned that pretty much all "medical norms" are based of men rather than both male & female, obviously this is less of an issue for me but does raise my concerns for both my partner & daughter.

I am a genuine poster, I know there are a lot of creeps who come on asking about periods.

Thank you for taking the time to read and any and all advice is welcome.

My endometriosis pain was exactly the same post-vaccine. Only thing that changed was my cycle was messed up a bit for a few months afterwards.

tellmetologoffIamaMNaddict · 22/11/2021 23:24

My endo pain has disappeared in the last few months. I have no idea why (I would love to know but am not complaining!). I have had the vaccine. Not suggesting a link but it definitely didn't make it worse.

Thank you both for taking the time to reply and both with completely different experiences post vaccine. My partner is coming round to the idea of taking the vaccine she is just concerned with the lack of research into the after effects for women.

Are you sure you're not an angry vaxxer? Because this does seem to be the current theme that's appearing on various sites

Any oarticuiar reason your GF hasn't googled and found the top hits, from places like imperial or published in the BMJ which show menstrual changes rarely affect more than one period, and have no effect on fertility. There have been about 30,000 reports of that following vaccine,

But when researchers bother to ask, they find about 25% of women have mensrual changes around the time if the isease, often fir two or three months.

So yes, it's been studied, and if you want to minimise menstrual effects, then the odds indicate getting the jab

Since my 2nd vaccine I have had a period every 2 weeks.
My last period actually lasted 2 weeks itself. So I'm hoping i don't get another next week, or I'll be unimpressed.
Up until the day of my vaccine, I had been 100% regular and never late (unless pregnant), so for me the responsibility lies with the vaccine.
I'm currently waiting for my GP to call me, to discuss.

Fireflygal · 23/11/2021 07:27

@Wedowonder, how old are you?

Wedowonder · 23/11/2021 22:47

I am 30 (have had 2 children in the last 5 years)

Mooda · 23/11/2021 23:09

My DD17 had the vaccine yesterday and has had unusual bleeding today (she's on the pill). She's never bled mid cycle before. So following this with interest, and some concern.

Lockeddownagain · 24/11/2021 03:34

My period was 26lqst 2ith my first jag my pain has actually been getting worse and I didn't even think it could be the jag

Garriet · 24/11/2021 03:53

No difference for me.

They have been researching it - a study of 1200 women found no correlation. Obviously anecdotally women are reporting it but unless it can be identified what can they do about it?

My first period after the jab was sooner/longer than normal but they’ve been lighter since, but I did start new medication at the same time. 2nd jab made no difference.

MolkosTeenageAngst · 24/11/2021 07:24

I had the Pfizer vaccine, have had all 3 doses and haven’t noticed any obvious changes to my periods or cycle.

Autumn101 · 24/11/2021 07:32

I have fairly severe endometriosis and mine was marginally worse for about 2/3 months but it has totally calmed down and back to normal levels
