Stamps for overseas Xmas cards

Really silly question alert.... I've found some stamps left from last year. If I've read the Royal Mail site correctly, it's £1.70 for a card to Canada. I've got some £1.45 stamps left, can i use them plus a normal 2nd class stamp? Or best to just buy new? Sooo frigging expensive 😱

Hi, I work in a post office and yes you can use those stamps but I would suggest you go to your local post office to get your cards weighed Cos the £1.70 only covers up to 20g and you’d be surprised how many cards weigh more than that! And then you can use the stamp you have and the clerk can sell you the difference in stamps, if you use a 1.45 and a second class you will be overpaying by 41p and it’s expensive enough as it is.
