Specsavers free eye test

About 12 years ago I was diagnosed with high eye pressure and advised to get my eyes tested annually at the opticians and that I would get free eyetests.

For the first few years when I attended these appointments I used to show Specsavers the letter from the eye doctor with the recommendation about the eye tests on it and I was given free eye tests. After a few years they didn't seem that interested in looking at the letter and I just stated to them that I was entitled to a free eye test. There was never any query about this.

However, not having had a check up since 2019 (mainly due to Covid) I was just reading their website info after booking a test for next week and I saw it said that you have to take proof with you if you want a free eye test. The problem is I can no longer find the letter from the eye doctor.

If I turn up for the appointment without the letter from the eye doctor what will happen? Do any mumsnetters have free eye tests due to eye health and do they take their proof to every appointment?

Sorry, don't know why that vote thing is up there. Please ignore that.

They should have your details on their computer. Just call them to check its on their system before you turn up. My husband has never had to show proof and he has free eyetests because of his fathers glaucoma, not his.
