Swollen lymph node - panicking

BeautyBella · 21/11/2021 19:45

I have a swollen lymph node under my jawline on the left side.
Whenever I swallow I get a pain in my ear and I’ve realised it’s connected to the swollen gland.
When I touch it, it feels sore.

Strangely if I put pressure on the gland while I swallow, the pain in my ear isn’t there. But if I swallow without putting pressure on the swollen gland, I do have pain Sad

I’m trying to work out what to do, I’m panicking, I know I need to see the GP but I’m scared it’s going to be the C word.

Can someone talk me down?

I'm not a medical professional but a swollen gland is a really common sign of an infection. I hope it resolves quickly for you.

Isn't a swollen gland just a sign that your immune system is working to fight something? It could be something as simple as a cold or ear infection.

Take a deep breath it probably means you have or are about to have a viral infection. I currently have an ear infection and sinitis and my lymph nodes in my neck are massive.

If it's painful and come on suddenly I imagine it's just the nodes reaction to a virus, like a sore throat, ear infection or glandular fever etc. I am sure the GP will give good advice and antibiotics if necessary. Please try not to worry unnecessarily.
