Food odour on clothes

DS had food tech today. School jumper, top and trousers still smell after a 40 degree wash with Persil colour powder. Smells like he has worked in a takeaway. Is there a powder/liquid that will shift the odour ?

Honestly I’m not being funny but are you sure the smell isn’t on them from after the wash? Did you hang them to fry inside? I’m gobsmacked that they still smell after going through the wash?

If you usually use a short wash cycle, try a longer one. The other week someone mentioned in a laundry/environment thread they realised when they did a full length wash how crap the quick wash had been.

It's definitely the food odour. I would imagine it's strong in the food tech class when the whole class is cooking. His coat stinks too so going to hang that on the washing line in the wind tomorrow.

Buy some Unstoppables then do a longer wash. Wash the coat too.

I’ve found Dr Beckmann’s odour remover works well - did wonders for DH’s forgotten gym kit!

A scoop of bicarbonate of soda in your wash will help neutralise odours x

Dettol laundry liquid.

Good for sports kit too

White vinegar will sort it

Hang them outside to get darked on. Hopefully it'll be cold enough for a quick frost and a good airing.

I'd do a 60 degree wash with bio powder, used to work for my chef whites.

Do you have a garden / washing line? I'd leave it on the line for a day or two.
