Silly mistake? Overthinking

Sorry in advance if this sounds daft but I suffer from anxiety and am a chronic over thinker.

Dc has recently started swimming lessons and is coming on well. Tonight I took a quick Snapchat video of his progress to send to dh. However quickly realised that other kids were in it and probably shouldn't be filming in a public pool (no shit). Panicked and deleted the snap but worrying now that I've done something wrong and CCTV may have picked me up filming. I won't make the mistake of taking pics of videos in there again but is this something I could get into trouble for if indeed there is CCTV in there and anyone sees it?

Please don’t worry about this.

First, the chances of anyone seeing you on CCTV are pretty slim and if they do, I can’t see that they’d be bothered to hunt you down.

Second, you have a perfectly reasonable explanation for taking the video and have now deleted it.

Hilda40 · 18/11/2021 18:56

It's done now, don't fret.

pasturesgreen · 18/11/2021 18:57

What Voord said. Try not to worry about it, they have better things to do than randomly look back through CCTV for no reason.

rrhuth · 18/11/2021 18:58

You haven't broken a law, if you are in England, as far as I understand it.

But it is socially unacceptable to film in a public pool, and many venues have their own rules saying you can't for safeguarding reasons. If anyone saw you the venue might have a word - but no one will review the CCTV unless they have a reason to do so.

I think it is unlikely anything will come of it.

The swimming school we attend does not allow parents to use devices on the poolside at all now. Because stupid twats wouldn't follow the rule not to film/photograph.

rrhuth · 18/11/2021 18:59

And I know what you mean about overthinking - but try to remember you are a regular, decent person who is trying to do the right thing Brew

claymodels · 18/11/2021 19:01

The swim teacher and lifeguard said nothing? I would t worry about anyone seeing you on CCTV

fairywings55 · 18/11/2021 19:01

@rrhuth I have 100% been a stupid twat on this occasion. To be honest I haven't noticed any signs and lots of other people use phones while they sit waiting but obviously filming is a no-no.

Noooooo - I meant the stupid twats who have been told loads of times and still won't stop!

I will now overthink the fact I was trying to be cheery and ended up usetting you - sorry!

fairywings55 · 18/11/2021 19:08

@rrhuth haha no please don't! I don't want my overthinking to make someone else overthink.

I also took a video of the swim teacher last week as I thought it was my friends son but wasn't sure. Didn't think too much of that as there were no kids in it but probably shouldn't have done that either. Will just say a blanket to no to all photography in the pool now. Even better leave my phone is my bag.
