To think that I should be able find nice Xmas pyjamas for a 12 year old boy?

Is it just me or is it impossible to find nice Christmas pyjamas for boys once they pass about 7 years old?

When he was younger I used to be able to get lovely ones from Next but now it's all crap!

I'm not wanting cartoony ones obviously but nice Xmas themed Pjs that arent bright red just don't seem to exist for his age group.

Can anyone point me in the right direction or do I give up on Christmas pyjamas now? (That makes me sad because it's a tradition that he gets a new pair on Xmas eve)

I like the family asda ones. We've just got ones from there with Christmas trees all over which to me suits any age or sex etc

I'm trying to source some at the moment too! Places on my list to check (when I get chance) are;
Asda
H&M
John Lewis
Matalan
Lands End
M&S

IpanemaPeaHen · 18/11/2021 11:03

I’ve just bought some blue/grey checked pjs for ds (12) in John Lewis.

Fridaysgirl17 · 18/11/2021 11:04

I got my boys lovely ones from Asda I got the family Snoopy ones, mine are younger but they have some lovely PJ's on the website that would be suitable

Largethighsbadeyes · 18/11/2021 11:06

@Stath they are nice but not very Christmassy- this is the issue I'm having.

The family ones are a good idea I'll have a look.

John Lewis I looked at and there was a nice pair so may end up with those. White company had some lovely ones but not a big enough size 😔

Perhaps I'm being a bah humbug but aren't Christmas themed pyjamas for children a waste of money? What do you do with them once Christmas is over? Or do they still wear them all year round regardless.

JumperandJacket · 18/11/2021 11:13

Mini Boden have Christmas PJs up to that size. It's a tricky age for finding the balance between too Christmassy and not Christmassy enough (I used to buy red and green tartan PJs for my DS as he wouldn't wear anything with pictures).

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 18/11/2021 11:14

I find both M and S and H and M good for Christmas PJs for that age

Angel2702 · 18/11/2021 11:16

I’ve struggled this year as it’s all matching family ones that isn’t what we are after and never seem right for the older ones.

I got my 12 year old men’s ones in Primark grey with Christmas trees on. The men’s all seem to be bottoms only or short sleeved, mine prefer fleecy long sleeved ones. Not all men strut around in bottoms only surely.

Also a lack of Christmas T-shirt’s this year which mine prefer to jumpers.

Mine wear them until they fall apart, although we've never deliberately gone for Christmas pyjamas, only if they needed new ones or specifically asked for them for Christmas. I don't like the really warm ones, we don't live in an igloo and they're too hot!

Catch kidston and Sophie all port have Christmas pj’s

The John Lewis ones this year seem nice too

M&S go up to age 16th which I always find strange as 10 year olds don't want the same as 16 year olds.

Have you tried the supermarkets ? I walked past some lovely ones there but lovely is obviously a matter of taste

Udouhun · 18/11/2021 18:54

Will a 12 year old want to wear Christmas themed pyjamas?

GlomOfNit · 18/11/2021 18:58

I agree - in fact, clothing a boy in early teens is a bloody nightmare, especially if they're not into branded/sports stuff!

There are some quite nice red tartan PJs in that age range in M&S at the moment (part of the 'family Christmas PJs range' ) if that works for him? I looked in JL yesterday but couldn't see any. This year I've ended up buying a two-pack of some rather boring monochromatic PJs from M&S in shades of grey, black and white tartan. Everything else was stuck all over with gaming motifs or footballs (neither of which he wants on his Pjs). M&S did have some white flannel Snoopy Christmas ones (again, a family range) but they were a bit odd, somehow.

Many shops seem to end their boys' ranges at about age 12/13 and not pick up until about 15, if that. (Sainsbury...) And stuff like underwear - it is well-nigh impossible to find briefs for boys over the age of about 7. It's all trunks. DS finds trunks too much fabric under his trousers but hardly any of his briefs fit him now. Last year, M&S had some fairly nice briefs in their Autograph range (ie ££s) but couldn't see any this year that weren't boring white.

Pottedpalm · 18/11/2021 19:04

Christmas pyjamas? I would put them with Elf on the shelf and Christmas Eve boxes. It’s just a way to get people to spend money .

Fizzorgin · 18/11/2021 19:05

Have you tried New Look? They have a boys range now

DaisyWaldron · 18/11/2021 19:12

I got my teens matching yeti print pyjamas from M&S. Those probably aren't to your taste, but they also do red checked Christmas pyjamas, as well as ones with a Christmas dog print.
