Mum shared my pregnancy news - AIBU to be annoyed?

I rang my mum this evening to tell her I am pregnant (not specifically, I ring her most days). She did say all the right things, congratulations etc but then very quickly said she needed to go as she was expecting another call. I realised I hadn’t told her not to tell anyone and called her back about 30 minutes later. She had already emailed my brother, who never bothers to get in touch, send birthday cards to my DS(4) etc. AIBU to be annoyed that she shared my news so quickly? I would never share someone else’s news without permission!

YABU you didn't tell her not to share so just have to take it on the chin

Do you think she got off the call quickly on purpose … before you could say anything? Most people know this is something the expectant parents share….

Yeah she shouldn't have done that. But also it sounds like it was a mistake made in genuine error rather than a malicious intent to hurt you and steal your thunder. I'd make it evident you are upset and ask her not to tell anyone else, then forgive, forget and move on, time to focus on your amazing happy news and enjoy telling everyone else in your life x

Thanks, will try to forgive and forget. She must have started typing straight away as she’s not the fastest and usually only emails him once a week!
