Anyone know about “early bird” offers to schools?

I hope someone can give me some useful advice:

Early bird offer given to my DC for an independent school. Not sure why or how common but we’ve got the option to sit the entrance exam earlier. Not sure how this will work as we’ve applied for other schools. My question is if DC passes then where to from here - a) accept and not go for other exams or b) accept and still go for other exams.

I’m worried we will be tied into a contact if we accept then decline so would have to pay for a full term if we choose option b.

Anyone been in similar situation? I kind of wish they hadn’t offered this option and we could do exams all in one go and then decide.

DH thinks we should go for exam and accept if offered as he think it’s very unlikely DC will get into other 2 schools we applied for as very competitive. It’s also likely DC might not even get into the early bird offer school either do all my worry and anxiety might be hypothetical!
